Sit Down, Be Humble - Humility As a Christian Virtue
Humility is the most basic of all Christian virtues.
In the words of Saint Augustine,
Humility is the foundation of all the other virtues hence, in the soul in which this virtue does not exist, there cannot be any other virtue except in mere appearance.
St. Bernard equally defines it as,
"A virtue by which a man knowing himself as he truly is, abases himself. Jesus Christ is the ultimate definition of Humility."
As Christians, we should learn to imbibe the virtue of humility.
The more humble a person is, the more that person finds Favour from God.
Humility allows a Christian to admit that they cannot do it alone & need to invite God to take control.
It is a virtue to be learnt and practiced through the often painful circumstances of daily life.
Humility is one of the virtues most characteristic of our Lord. It is a virtue that he explicitly said we should learn from him:
“Learn of me that I am meek and humble of heart.”
Every Christian can receive Favour and Grace from the Father, enough to compensate for his/her faults and shortcomings.
The key is to have a heart of humility.
Have a Blessed week ahead.
This is inspiring though....
