WE GIVE NO OFFENCE IN ANYTHING
“Saturday 04
We give no offence in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed. But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses.”
2 Corinthians 6:3,4 (NKJV)
“We live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us, and no one will find fault with our ministry. In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently
endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind.”
2 Corinthians 6:3,4 (NLT)
READ: 2 Corinthians 6:3–10
Apostle Paul and his team lived in such a way that they could not be accused of being the cause of someone’s falling away from the faith.
In other words, Your Christian life should be a standard through which others can understand God. The way you live should not be the reason for the falling away of others from the faith.
If you do not want to be blamed for the falling of others, as a leader or a mature believer, you ought to live your life in line with the Bible. The things you do and how you live should be a standard
for others to follow. Paul said they commend and show themselves to be true ministers of God in everything, and in much patience. In other words, they
patiently endure tribulations, needs, distresses and whatever hardships and calamities (2 Corinthians 6:4). For the assignment in the kingdom to be fulfilled, you should be ready to patiently endure things that are not palatable (2 Timothy 2:3).
You live such a life most especially to help the young converts and those who are weak in faith (1 Corinthians 9:19-22). The work of ministry is not always a bed of roses.
There are tribulations, needs, distresses, stripes, imprisonments, tumults, labours, sleeplessness and fastings (2 Corinthians 6:5).
Other ways through which Paul and his team commend themselves as good ministers of God are through purity, knowledge, longsuffering, kindness, the Holy Spirit, and sincere or unhypocritical love (2 Corinthians 6:6–10).
One could conclude that these are the ways of their life. How you live as a believer or a minister shows whether you are genuine or not. The Bible says: by their fruit they shall be known (Matthew 7:16,20). If I may ask:
• Can people testify that you are of God through the way you live your life?
•Through your ways of life, can other people say you are of God?
• Are people being repelled or driven away from Christ Jesus through what they see in your life?
• Is your life a plus or a minus to the kingdom of God?
There are many believers and ministers today whose lives are not making God’s heart glad. If the ways you are commending yourself as a believer or minister are not right and good, you would do well to amend your ways today and change.
Repent and ask God for mercy, and turn a new leaf (1 John 1:9).
Re f l e c t :
• Through the way you live your life, are you drawing people closer to Christ or pushing them away?
• How patiently are you handling the trials and struggles that come with serving God?
Peace.
