PREACHING THE WORD IS THE WAY

“33 And all the city was gathered together at the door. 34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. 35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. 36 And Simon and they that were with him followed after him. 37 And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee. 38 And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth. 39 And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.” – Mark 1: 33-39, King James Version.

Today is Sunday. I had to go to church today. Now my Christian life is not a superb one. I lay no claims to anything so my words might mean nothing to you this morning.

Today I was at church for second mass (that’s church service for the Roman Catholic) and the gospel reading came from the gospel of Mark 1: 29-39. The above quote was from this portion. The priest preached mainly on the first reading and this gospel.

Why did I bring the gospel to steemit this morning? Well, something grabbed my attention in the gospel as well as what the priest said. In the gospel, Jesus, James and John were at the house of Simon and Andrew, where Jesus, after healing their mother-in-law, was now healing and casting out demons from the crowd that had gathered.

The passage says, he left them early in the morning to find a solitary place to pray. His disciples came looking for him and they informed him, when they found him, that he was being sought by everyone. It is his reply that caught me off guard. He said;

“Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.” – Mark 1: 29, King James Version.

Jesus was saying here that his mission was not to heal the sick, that his mission on earth was not to solve physical problems but rather to preach the gospel and turn men to God. The healing was a side effect of the ministry at work; it was not the main focus.

In the world today, there are so many supposed men of God who have made their names as healers and seers. They have mega churches were healing occur every Sunday, every week.

I do not have any issue against healing the sick and the broken, but the focus has shifted from preaching the gospel to healing the sick and casting out demons. People go to church now for evidence that Jesus Christ is the son of God. They want proof, but is faith something that you can see? Do we, as Christians, need miracles to believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God? Will miracles be enough for one to find salvation?

Today, too many Christians go about seeking for churches where they have heard that the man of God sees the future or heals the sick. They are not concerned about hearing the word of God. This is a scary thing. Where is the food for the soul? Where is the word that builds faith, the very faith needed to make miracles happen?

The preaching of the gospel is the essence of the Christian faith. It is the basis for the ministry of the church. Without the gospel, all we have is magic and spectacle. The church is not a drama stage. If Jesus can deny the sick in favour of those who needed to hear the word of God, then what are we doing?

We as Christians need to hear the word of God. We need to eat it, drink it, live it. Only then will faith come and when faith is strong, we can move mountains. We can say the prayers that will set us free from whatever problems we face. This is the maths;

Word of God= Salvation and Faith.

Faith + Action=Miracles.

I am not saying that getting healing or deliverance from your pastor is wrong, I am saying that you should not leave your spiritual battles for others to fight while you sip tea.

It is your war; you should be at the forefront. Go to a bible believing and preaching church today. Learn how to fight the spiritual warfare not how to buy water, oil and handkerchiefs. Learn how to use the word of God as a weapon not wait for your pastor or priest to lay hands on you. Build your faith, do not depend on another man’s faith. Read and imbibe the word of God today.

thanks for showing us the way..

Oga that's not the way.

Bro..... That's not true..... There's no preaching without miracles.... Christianity without the miraculous is just another dead religion.

Read Luke 4:18

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

The preaching of the gospel is not just in talking it is in doing..... The gospel is the solution to the problems of the world and it isn't in mere words...

It's in the miraculous.

If Jesus healed and did a lot of miracles..... Brother reason...... What do you think the power we have is for? To be under death and sicknesses..... Never.... He made us like Him, so we too should work miracles.....

I don't think you understand me. I have not deny the relevance of miracles. You should know that without the word, there's no faith, without faith there is no miracle.
I have no argument with miracles, I am uncomfortable with those who have forgotten the word and pursue miracles.

In the beginning was the word, the word was with God and the word was God.

Further on...

The word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

Can you say that the word of God is not as important as miracles? This is my concern. Preach the word, evangelise; these are the important things. Miracles are proof of faith and faith is gotten from hearing the word. Please read the Bible.
Thanks for taking time to comment @its-kg

Ok..
