A long time ago when steem was still just months old it was debated to hide the payout amount until it was paid out. I didn't think it would make a difference and Steemit is all about transparency. So it would go against the constitution of the platform I think.
I didn't know about that. Indeed, I can see when the payout was delayed 24 hr, it was still more applicable, now with a delay of 7 day, it would be too surprising too.
I am going after this issue in another way. Instead of trying to recruit new people - I am trying to help the people here who are newer than me. Aside from post payout issues - this place is very time consuming and difficult to use. So I'm not trying to convince new people to try at all.
Instead I am talking to and working with others who are new and trying. If they have good posts but have a certain type of difficulty I can help with such as formatting or how to make a good thumbnail, then that is what I try to help them with.
I think we have plenty of people between 35 and 50 rank who are trying and need help and don't get any. So this is where I put my effort now. What do you think about this idea?
Good point! I also check often for example the introduction tag to support some new users.
Attracting new users is also important, compared to major websites such as Reddit, Steemit still has a long way to go.
I agree with this... this is like having a blog from scratch. most people on social media write fast and post fast... this requires the opposite: a "careful" writing!!
That is a good way to put it - I've talked to 3 people in the last week and all refused to try. This is why I think we need to try to catch the little ones that just got here on their own.
The problem is that people do not like change

No!!... steemit is way better when you know everyting about every other post.. rather than motivated by hidden payouts, I'll be more motivated when I know someone read my post. and that's what needs to change... we need to have our friends from social media come here and read/comment on our posts,

Friendship is a very powerful thing, and in steemit... having friends means having more money even if all your posts are... not good.
exactly, but let's say, Instagram exists for 7 years, still some of my friends only started using it now when everyone switches from facebook to it. Otherwise they won't even use it. So Steemit has a long way to go.

其实最开始的时候，是最有激情的时候，收益少也开心，只是到了后来久了看了很多帖子的高收益之后再有对比，便会有了情绪，随后大部分人便也能放平心态，不过分的纠结收益，这是一个过程，就看这个过程的时间长短啦，哈哈
是啊，总有个过程，毕竟这类有收益的社交网络还是头一遭，大家一起适应。加油
有人觉得是动力，有人觉得郁闷甚至失去写作的动力。我在两者之间 刚开始没人看，看到别人掙大钱就安慰自己 坚持吧，假以时日希望会好些 但也是有个时间目标的 如果半年内还是没人欣赏 那么就打算完全放弃 因为投入的是自己大把的时间和精力 后来有了些人气，在高兴的同时，比较心也出来了 让自己不爽了好一阵 慢慢才调整过来 比较平常心去对待 估计是人心里的一个发展过程
是的，人之常情，有比较心很正常。我觉得希望我们都能越来越培养出写作本身的乐趣，这样发帖子不会是一个负担，自然就平常心了。加油啊！

I blog because i love to meet more travellers and learn from their experience, long turn i would love to see some profit to buy grosseries or use for a holiday once a year.
But for me its about the connection now, here more then 2 months en like it more and more

@joythewanderer I try to explain it to my friend in that sense but none of them ever listen to me so I just sit back and keep collecting my coins. Soon they will come begging to talk about it and by then it will be too late.
True, I now avoid saying too much about it, but only mention at least I made some money and can buy some coffees. People are too skeptical about new things. Let's steem on!
我之前更新博客纯粹是爱好，从来没想到要赚到收益。
后来有了公众号，收到10元 20元的打赏，就开始瞎激动，一收到打赏就开始欢聚一堂。
刚刚加入steemit半个月那会，一直是几分的时候，一直在瞎琢磨；直到第一篇开始有收入，激动的赶紧去吃大餐，现在还好，已经看得比较淡了。
我以前也试过博客，但是三天打鱼两天晒网，加上后来越来越多的轻社交，像微博Twitter之类，越涞越懒了。
