If your life depended on what you choose today...

If your life really depended on one decision you made today, wat would yu choose to change immediately?

If it were just one decision I've made today that would determine whether I live or die, I would say it was deciding to finally accept that I have control of my time and my priorities. I so often have outside factors (distractions or other people's plans) or my own resistance (procrastination or laziness) control my daily flow, but if it were a life-or-death situation, I would become obsessed with what was important and I would go after that objective with single-minded intent, instantly going after and pursuing whatever it is to achieve my objective and getting rid of anything and everything else in my life that was not of essential importance and that would not contribute to my growth. The sense of urgency from that would demonstrate to me all that I have been missing in life in the form of discipline and focus.

What part of your current life is the result of decisions you made without thinking?

So many of the things I have today in my life are simply a result of my having made unconscious decisions that affect my life greatly especially in the cumulative small, seemingly insignificant decisions that happen daily over time, and the tendency that I have had of being stuck endlessly scrolling on my phone to the exclusion of everything else, of procrastinating on putting things off, of doing things that provide instant gratification rather than effort will have a significant part in influencing how the life I live today looks like. None of these were a choice to be life changing or impactful, they had built upon each other and have resulted in significant productivity and thinking-it would be like the biggest and most life-shaping decision you ever make is something so insignificant.

What are you tolerating in your life that deep down you know you should change?

There are also some things in my life today that I have decided to tolerate, which on a deep level I do not need to, and these could be continuing to stay in uncomfortable situations which deplete my energy, or not being able to express my desires for whatever reasons make me uncomfortable, or choosing to keep holding limiting beliefs that I don't possess skills. Being able to tolerate it in some ways means being accepting of it and I am enduring this because the gain/outcome from my tolerance is not huge; nonetheless there is a silent suffering that comes from knowing these things that continue to surround my life are a part of it.

What daily habit is building your future without you even realizing it?

One decision I am making on a daily basis which would create my future life is the choice of how I am to spend my morning hours of time, for in my life today I am making the conscious decision that I will use this morning time for learning, planning, or reflecting rather than spending that initial block of clear mindedness checking emails, texts and social media, and what I do in the morning is a choice that dictates everything else that follows; these small choices I make in the morning hour will determine the person and discipline I am in the future and these could sum up over time and show the extent of what I am achieving in life from these first small wins of the morning.

If today were your last day, would you feel satisfied with how you are living?

If today were the last day of my life, I would certainly have some serious thoughts; I would have a strong sense of pride in the life that I have been able to lead, where I have challenged myself, grown as an individual, and made sacrifices or learned a lot, where I haven't always lived easily. Conversely, I would feel great humility in the aspects that I've held myself back from, whether through failure to grasp an opportunity, not speaking up in a situation, or failing to commit; the value I would gain would make me cherish the opportunities I have in the present greatly.

Therefore, looking at these reflections, it would seem the very significant part of taking steps toward improving life and developing the skills to do so is becoming aware and intentional about choices we make because all of our lives can be changed, or continue to remain the same, with every decision that we have made in the life we live today.
