Understanding Parodies & Satires

We are quite used to seeing jokes on existing characters such as Avengers and Justice League. We always see it in The Simpsons and The Family Guy and we sometimes wonder if there is a infringement on copyrights. So, to get the right legal quotation, this question I posed to @perennial and he gave me an answer:

The right of control and ownership of works does not include works that are described as...

Section 13 Copyright Act 1987

...the doing of any of the acts referred to in subsection (1) by way of parody, pastiche or caricature

Satire and parody does not infringe any copyright because it has a different slant and it does not ride on confusing the audiences on the ownership of this creative output but instead it creates a new group of audiences which are more tuned to the comical relief that satires and parodies provide.

For instance, the real Avengers would focus on making their superheros appear really appealing and heroic but a satire and parody works on making the characters funny and laughable.

Nick Fury : The eye patch covers on both eyes
Thor : Has both coconut shaped icon on his chest
Ironman : Does not have enough iron pads to cover all his limbs.
Hulk : Appearing in boxers and not jeans.

Even the badge is not spared. This badge looks intimidating with an attacking squirrel and not just an icon of a vulture.

Of course in introducing the characters, there must be an appearance of professionalism. It must be introduced through a very systematic and convincing computer that looks like it belongs to some intelligence.

Then there is the story telling of each character's special powers and its adaptability.

Even robots are not spared...there is no bigger robots than the Transformers.

Every superhero needs some kickass poster to make them look invincible and cool. So, I designed this with the characters to give them the winning edge prior to putting them on the field with their nemesis.

In short, these characters are supposed to attract the audiences of the normal superhero franchise, nerd and geeks of the world, people who hates superheros, grandma and grandpa who needed a good laught, some boys and girls that needed to spend some time in the cinemas and could not get tickets to the Infinity War that is currently screening.
