Contest - The Most EPIC Love Story Ever - 50 SBD in Prizes
Prizes:
- 1st place - 20 SBD + SBD payout from this post
- 2nd place - 20 SBD
- Two runner-ups 5 SBD each
Rules:
- Upvote and Resteem this post. This is primarily for your benefit as I would like the winner to walk away with a smile on their face and a pocketful of shiny SBDs.
- Timeframe for posting the story on Steemit - 11/02/2018-14/02/2018 (included).
- Post a link to your story in the comments of this post.
- There is no word count limit, but the story must fit in a single Steemit post. You are surely free to continue if you feel inspired to do so in several posts, but only one post is eligible for the contest.
- One submission per user.
- If you decide to employ X rated content in your story it MUST be properly marked as NSFW.
Suggestions:
- Even if my focus in choosing the winner is going to be my subjective understanding of an epic love story and not so much literary perfected one, I'd still strongly suggest workshopping your story at the Writes' Block. I mean, if we could get the statistics of the percentage of writing contest winner pieces that have been workshopped at the block, you wouldn't even need to second-guess that decision. It really is a no-brainer. Trust me on that one.
- What I am going to look for is psychological depths and believability. Each human being is a psychological and emotional mess. Things can't realistically always be all peachy if a couple is compatible at all it must be because their messed up sides play quite exquisitely with each other. As I said in the heads-up post--don't tell it, don't even show it, make me feel it.
- Show how the different needs of the genders play a role in the development of the story. If you as a writer are completely oblivious to the way the opposite gender thinks, feels and what their motivations are, I am really doubt it will translate well into a solid and believable love story.
Conclusion:
- Don't worry if you feel like you're just going to miss the mark because you don't know me and don't know what I'm reaching for. That's where the second place comes into the picture. It is reserved for all-around solid write, that just so happened to miss my subjective soft-spot. So, I don't know what floats Josie's goat, is not an argument not to take part. Just write your best.
- Why the limit for posting start date, you may wonder. Well, let's just bombard Steemit with some epic love-stories in an intense and focused manner on the week of the Valentines, instead of drawing it out for nearly a month. Why not?
- If you're anything like me, you'll probably need some reminders along the way, since there's still plenty of time. Don't you worry, I've got you covered. I'll post reminders on Sundays (28th, 4th and then open the submission on the 11th).
Still struggling with finding that epic love story within me, but I know it's there. It is known. Just you wait, 'Enry 'Iggins, just you wait! ;D
Ha ha ha, just now got the reference.
The silly brain of mine! xD
Haha no worries, it was random enough to slip by at first glance ;P
Sorry I'm late replying. Some bad days for me. Not sure I will come up with an entry, but so looking forward to these. Hugs If you need help judging or with anything else, ping me!!!
Hugs
I hope you're doing better. ^^
No need to be sorry, replying has never been a requirement. And of all the people I know a thing or two about some bad days. :)
Lots of love,
~Josie~
Ow, I really like your approach, the topic and also the amount of time available to really take the time to develop a good story! Excellent idea. And I always like the challenge of writing a good love story which is a delicate thing. TBC!
Delicate, oh, yes, most definitely! ^^
Does this mean I can hope for your entry?
Much excited
Good luck!
Yes! Actively thinking about this. My story for the Shipwreck Challenge has also turned out to be somewhat of a romantic story... but a TRUE romance story... that is a whole other cup of tea! But yes, I'm hoping to finish it in time...
I am so excited about this contest. I absolutely love to watch/read/hear a great love story, and what a brilliant idea to host the contest during love week. I can’t wait!
Yes, I definitely share the excitement.
In all fairness, the love week was just a coincidence. :D
But a nice one at that.
May I hope to see your entry?
Or are you here eager to devour the results just as me? :D
A very nice coincidence, indeed!
I’m actually think of writing an entry, but I am definitely here to devour the results! There isn’t much better than a great love story. :)
I love this idea! I'm currently in the middle of ... several writing projects, but if I get the chance I may give this one a shot :) For now I've resteemed and upvoted :)
Thank you! ^^
There is still plenty of time, so I hope to see your entry! :)
Don't burn yourself out at my expense though! xD
I'm ashamed to admit I won't be able to write for your contest, but I can't wait to see the entries. I do love a good love story.
I'm quite excited to see what people come up with. The subject is so broad and personal, that I hope to read a great variety of approaches.
Can't hide the excitement.
A contest from @josie2214! Great idea. I've never done a love story before, so it would be a challenge for sure. Let us know if you need a hand with the judging.
Would be a challenge..? Does that mean I can look forward to zombie entry in this one? Or at least hope for one?
Suspicious look
I remember seeing this contest come to life in discord. Pretty cool to see it up now Josie. Don't know if I'm much of a writer when it comes to love; the closest I ever got I suppose was the last Muxxy art prompt piece I wrote.
I hope you get some good reads for this! There's definitely amazing prize incentives.
Aaahh, I'd still wish I was able to make it rain even more. xD
I've got a good story for this. It's even a true story about how I met my wife. I'll have to shorten it, but I'll get the meeting part and the shortly after parts in there. It was a pretty eventful time. Already upvoted and re-steemed.
Good luck! ^^
Thanks. I've got it ready to go whenever the time comes to submit it.
Nice, @josie221
I really like it.
Uncertain of my own abilities when it comes to love but I may get inspired to write my own interpretation of it.
Have a great contest! It will be hard to choose the winners, I know it for sure.
