The Old Dog Presents: The "Come Out of Your Shell" Contest!

in #contest5 years ago (edited)

Have you been holding off on posting here on the Steem blockchain? Come out of your shell and join the fun! How?

Grab your camera and have a look about. Once you find your subject you won't have to rush because these creatures move at a "snail's" pace!  You'll have plenty of time to fiddle with the settings on your camera and pick the best possible angle to shoot from. Doesn't that sound stress free?

Why such a non hurried approach to wildlife photography? Because we're looking for beautiful photographs of snails.

Here's a Sample to Get Things Started!

I found this little fellow at the bottom of my swimming pool yesterday. I picked him up and put him on the border of the pool and managed to get a couple of nice photos!

This tiny guy was no bigger than a 25 cent piece. What a beautiful creature!

Lot's of contrasting textures and shades here. I hope that he's still OK and enjoying life!

Now It's Your Turn!

  • Show me a photo of a snail
  • Post your photos in the comment section below
  • The photo must be yours NOT one that you find on the internet.
  • Maximum of 2 entries per person
  • There will be at least 5 prizes of 1 Steem each
  • The contest closes in 7 days

The Top Rated Photo will Also get 5 PAL Coins!

Are you earning PAL coins? You should be! Just use palnet as one of your tags and you'll automatically earn both Steem and PAL. You can check your PAL coins and trade them at the amazing site Steem-Engine.com

You can also check out the palnet.io site.

The photo that I select as the my favorite will also get a bonus prize of 5 PAL coins transferred from my account!

Let's Succeed Together!

Sort:

I captured this rare shot of a giant German snail during a brief visit to Octoberfest in Munich. They grow so big because they live off of spilled beer during the festival (there is a lot of spilled beer). I am quite lucky that, although huge, they are still quite slow - or I would never have escaped with my life (I was walking with a cane at the time).

My my, that is a large specimen. Beer has been a factor in my growth as well!

I know, eh? All those people telling us that beer would stunt our growth when we were young were just trying to spoil our fun. I mean, look at our bellies! "Stunt your growth" my ass.

Ride 'em cowboy!

This one has to be running on German beer indeed :D

We are invaded by snails, small ones, but they do not want to go out of their shells.

You can still edit it. :-)

Thank you.

I was too fast and did a whole post on this topic, just to realize that only need a photo. I won't spam your comments with the link but you know how to find it.

That is soooooo beautiful Thanks for your participation!

Thank you 😊, she is a pretty ginger example isn’t she 🐌, where do you always get those great ideas from ? Shake them out of your sleeve?
Keep on going! You are great 👍🏻

Where do I get the ideas? There's a formula:

Take 1/10th of @vee2180's artistic talent. Mix in 1/20th of her eye for color and add a lot of fun! Voila I can come up with a silly idea for a contest!

Hahahaha , keep on finding such great ideas, and your the best !

Snail photo contest, I love it! :) I usually submit just one entry to your contests but this time, I will make an exception and submit two since I have two equally favorite snail photos of mine :) Both taken in my homeland Czech Republic. Let´s spread some snail love :D

Nice ones too.

you're welcome

I saw this snail sucking out the nectar from this red flaming torch flower in a park i was walking through i believe they call this snail the Rainbow Snail :)

Entry No #1

That's a really great photo!

Thank you @kus-knee much appreciated :)

Soooo .... I had a lot of time to prepare for this shot. Snails are usually slow indeed, but these ... they didn't go anywhere.

These were taken in one of the most famous restaurant in Paris - Bouillon Chartier.

BTW: does this still counts as wildlife photography? =)

Yes it still qualifies and you found the only way for snails to get even slower!
