15 + 1 Great Photo Challenges on Steemit You Should All Know About. Have Fun and Earn Rewards!

Hello my dear Steem addicts!

My name is @photofriend and I am here to connect, entertain, support, help and reward everybody who shares the passion for photography and is submitting good and original content! [Read my intro]

I decided to offer a selection of photography challenges that, in my opinion, everybody on Steemit should know about. Participation or engagement is surely not required, but the opportunity should be created. It all starts with awareness. If you know about any other photography challenge that is not covered in this article, feel free to advertise it in the comments section.

I would like to point out that I have no relation to the creators but I am grateful to them for enriching Steemit in this way and I think they all deserve our THANK YOU for their wonderful initiatives. The list is in no particular order and all remarks provided below are just the reflection of my personal opinion. Every challenge in this list offers some kind of reward for its participants. I will not be explaining all the rules and conditions of each challenge but rather provide a direction to take in case of interest.

World of Photography
If sharing photography on Steemit is what you are after, this is a must for you. It is more of a reward system and XP (experience) collection than a photo challenge and it is probably the most complex one here on Steenit. You can win a place in the daily selection where all the winners share a prize pool of 5.0 Steem and 2000 XP. You can also get up to two daily upvotes. This contest is organized by @juliank and the daily selections are published by @photocontests. Start with this article to understand the rules and have a look at the end of any daily selection to understand which tags to use in order to qualify for a given day.

200 SBD 7 World's Continents Photo Challenge
This challenge is held every day, covering each continent on one day of the week. It is probably the most lucrative challenge on Steemit so far, as the overall winner takes around 200 SBD. It is organized by @czechglobalhosts and you can check the rules here. The 30 best daily entries get an upvote, the weekly winner gets 20 SBD, the monthly winner gets 40 SBD and the yearly winner gets 100 SBD. There are some other rewards as well, so definitely go and check it out.

Prague/Czech Republic - Photo Challenge
This is a second challenge organized by @czechglobalhosts. It is organized daily and it requires sharing your photographs from his homeland. To participate, you have to add your photo with a short description in the comment section of the most recent post regarding this challenge. The 15 best entries will get an upvote with the daily winner getting a more valuable one.

Steemit Photo Challenge
This challenge takes place once a month and the current reward pool is 20 SP for the winner, 10 SP for the second place, 5 SP for the third and 2 SP for every honorable mention. The theme is changing every time. For more info about this challenge, have a look at @jamtaylor.

Steemit Portrait Photography Contest
This contest is officially sponsored by: @crimsonclad & @melodyrussell. To follow it and learn more, check @portraitcontest. Runs every two weeks and offers 10 STEEM + 100 Whaleshares for the winner, 5 STEEM + 40 Whaleshares for the second place, 3 STEEM + 20 Whaleshares for the third and 0.50 STEEM for every honorable mention.

B&W Photo Contest
This contest takes place once a week and is organized by @daveks. The current reward pool is 10 SBD for the winner, 5 SBD for the second place, 3 SBD for the third and 2 SBD for every honorable mention. The theme is quite obvious and the topic is changing weekly. Monomad Photographic Challenge
This challenge is officially sponsored by @brumest and you can follow it and learn more by checking @monochromes. This challenge is also in B&W and runs daily with a different topic every day. The winner gets a 100% upvote, the second and third place get a 50% upvote each.

Papa-Pepper's Combination Photography Contest
This is quite an interesting contest. Requires photos combining plant and animal + a proof photo. It is organized by @papa-pepper and runs weekly. The Winner gets 50% of the liquid post payout from the previous week post and the two runner ups each get 12.5% of the same. You can learn more by checking this article.

MyPictureDay Challenge
This challenge runs weekly and is organized by @timsaid. In their words: ''Let us know how your PhotographyDay looks like! Grab your camera (or mobile phone) and go out, take some shots and share them on Steemit!''
You can learn more by checking this article. The best PictureDay post gets 20 SBD onto its account, the second place 10 SBD and the third place 5 SBD.

Wiwcontest (White Is White Contest)
It is run by @dmcamera and the theme of this contest is ''white''. Runs weekly with the topic changing every week. 1 SBD is guaranteed for each of the three winners.

Abandoned Shit Weekly Contest
This contest has quite a memorable theme. Runs weekly and is organized by @customnature. The topic is different each time and the current reward pool is 10 SBD for the winner, 5 SBD for the second place and 2.5 SBD for the third.

Photo Fun Contest
This contest runs weekly and is organized by @claudiaz. It is quite a small contest but has some interesting topics. It is not all about winning STEEM, is it? Winner gets 1 STEEM and the rest of the participants share 4 STEEM equally.

Shadow Photo Contest
The theme is obvious and the weekly topic is narrowed down to a particular shadow. Run by @melinda010100 - a very nice lady. The prizes are at least 5 SBD, divided between no more, and possibly less than 10 winners. (The prize payout will be increased soon!)

The Flying Photographer Contest
This contest is in its second week and there is not much to say yet. It is about drone photos and videos. Run by @hadimemories and supported by World of Photography, @claudiaz and @kemal13. The current reward pool is 1.25 SBD for the winner, 0.75 SBD for the second place and 0.50 SBD for the third place in each category (photo & video). Check this article to learn more.

Photocollagecontest
This contest is also in its second week. It is about creating a collage with the given topic. It rewards two winners with 1 SBD each. Check @marcovanhassel for more info.

Honourable mention - @photogames
This project was brought to my attention by @dmytrokorol and he has my thanks. It was born out of a conversation between @jarvie, @derekkind and @caseygrimley two months ago. In their own words, it does not follow the same formula like a 'classical' contest: submit photos to fit a theme. They saw an opportunity for games that would go beyond just photo sharing and be fun for everyone. Game-play is usually based on one of the following: guessing skills, creative commentary tasks, usage of your photo skills, knowledge of photography and posting your own pictures. You can read more about the games here and introduction of the team which is behind all this here. It is a nice project and they deserve to be supported. Since it is about photography and you can earn rewards, they deserve to be mentioned in this article.

I spent a significant amount of time researching the info provided in this article because I believe that such initiatives deserve our support. So please, help me spread the word and RESTEEM this article. Help me support original photography on Steemit and fight againts plagiarism.
