How to protect yourself by coronavirus
Three important ways to slow the spread
Wear a mask to protect yourself and others, as well as help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet (about 2 arm lengths) from someone who does not live with you.
Avoid crowds. The more people you are exposed to, the higher your chance of being exposed to COVID-19.

Wear the mask
People 2 years of age and older should wear a mask in public places.
A mask should be worn in addition to keeping a distance of 6 feet, especially if you are around people who do not live in your home.
If someone in your home is infected, family members should exercise caution including wearing a mask to avoid infecting others.
Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before wearing the mask.
Wear a mask over your nose and mouth and keep it firmly under your chin.
Wear a mask that fits snugly on the sides of the face, an ear ring or a strap behind the head.
If you have to constantly adjust the mask, it means it doesn't fit and you may need to find a different mask or brand.
Make sure you can breathe easily.
Effective February 2, 2021, masking is required on aircraft, buses, trains and other forms of public transport entering, entering, or leaving the United States and at major US shipping hubs such as airports and terminals.

Keep 6 feet away from others
Inside your home: Avoid close contact with sick people.
If possible, maintain a distance of 6 feet or 2 meters between the sick person and those living in the house.
Outside your home: Keep 6 feet away from people who do not live in your home.
Remember that some asymptomatic people may be able to transmit the virus.
Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet (about 2 arm lengths) from others.
Staying away from others is especially important for people at higher risk of very serious illness.
Avoid crowds
You have a high risk of getting COVID-19 when you are in a crowded place such as a restaurant, bar, sports center or movie theater.

Wash your hands often
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after visiting a public area or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
It is especially important to wash your hands:
Before eating or preparing food
Before touching your face
After using the toilet
After leaving public areas
After blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
After holding your mask
After changing diapers
After taking care of the patient
After touching an animal or pet
If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol. Rub the solution evenly over your entire hand and rub your hands together until dry.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
