They Won't Need to Come for Our Guns

in #covid5 years ago

It doesn't matter whether the ronachan is real or imagined, lab-created or the results of an infected bat intestine. What matters is how our governments have reacted, and how we've responded, as citizens, to that reaction. How quickly did millions of Chinese people get wrangled up and shut into their homes? How fast were the streets vacated? What kind of mind control does it take to completely shut down a global economy and force millions of Americans into inevitable poverty, and, in many cases, severe depression, by stripping them of their right to work? What did it take to force churches all over the United States to shutter their doors and turn away parishioners? How did we end up in a country where, one day we were enjoying relatively free speech, to the next when we no longer are allowed to gather in groups of more than two people?
It didn't take guns to completely change our world. It took the threat of an illness, a few videos of Chinese people falling over and people battling for toilet paper, an insane media glomming onto the feariest of fear porn to make us all ankle grab, shut down our businesses, hand over our rights, and open wide for a government money teat (a stimulus which feeds them a lot more than it does us, by the way).
It's weird to me how so many people seem to be questioning this narrative all over social media, yet they persist, scaring us into the notion that we are in so much danger from this virus that it warrants the imminent destruction of our economy, and the trampling over our already limited liberties.
Anyway, a friend shared all of these things with me recently and I felt compelled to get all the information out before it all got lost in a thread. I'm all about 2A, but in reality, if we actually think guns are going to protect us from a government gone awry with oligarchs bloated on the power we allow them to enjoy, Covid19 has proven that our firearms are essentially worthless when it comes to protecting us against their malevolence.

I recommend reading the thread in it's entirety. 👇
