It's a pleasure to be here again in Local Taste_ Global Twist class where creativities are displayed uniquely.

This week, I will be transforming one of my best street food to a global mix. We have a lot of delicious street foods in my country and out of these, many are also my favorite. For the purpose of this challenge, I will be using FRIED SWEET POTATOES

This street food is loved by many and it is usually sold every evening by the roadside. After frying, the sellers serve it with pepper and onions sauce. Let's get to see my twist below;

Ingredients Used
  • Sweet potato
  • Vegetable oil
  • Egg
  • Mayonnaise
  • Black pepper
  • Salt

I'll be giving an international mix called Picnic Egg Salad to the fried potato.

Preparation Procedures

Peel, wash and slice potatoes in a circular form then heat vegetable oil up in a pan.

Add a little salt for taste to the potatoes before putting them into the hot oil

Keep frying till it’s ready ( I made sure to give it a soft texture for easy bites)

Proceeding to making of salad; set the egg to boil.

Peel the egg in cold water to give a smooth look and slice into smaller pieces.

Add dried black pepper and salt and give it a mix.

Add mayonnaise then mix properly.

Now my egg salad is ready!

To give it an international twist; I placed the egg salad on my local street food which is fried potatoes.

After which I garnished with fresh red and green pepper to give it an attractive look.

I love some American foods combination because they are relatable and nice to consume. Egg salad was originated from the United States. My inspiration for this combination is gotten from @suboohi 's class of few months ago. I learnt about picnic egg salad from there but I was curious how the combination will taste like with another base food ingredient ( potatoes).

Since fried potato is usually combined with local sauce (pepper and onions sauce) when selling on the street and I'm already used to that regular taste, creating a new flavor with egg salad was mind-blowing.

The sweetness was mild, the richness of eggs and cream makes the meal softer. The dried pepper flavor also added a unique taste to every bite.

The final presentation of the meal gives luxury appealing after garnishing and I love every process of this recipe including the final result.

Honestly, if this food was sold on the street, I am 100% sure that many will like it. The presentation, the flavor and the taste are enough to convince buyers.
