Family Reality — Do you like the family you are in?
I was born into a middle-class family. My parents are industrious and responsible. They are not wealthy, yet they are not impoverished as well either. Basic needs food, clothing, shelter and education are within the family's means. However, luxuries are limited. All costs are controlled, and no one spent money on extravagance. I learned the importance of discipline, appreciation and hard work from growing up in a middle-class family.
I would prefer a poor family that values time together to a rich one that does not. Love, unity and togetherness matter more than riches for me. I think money will never compensate for emotional support and shared memories. A materially rich home can feel empty, and a materially poor yet laughter-rich home can feel whole. To me, luxury is not as important as family bonding, conversations and shared experiences.
There are times I wished to have been born into a rich family who could provide everything I need and desire without stress. When I saw my peers sporting expensive gadgets, stylish clothes or access to luxurious experiences, it sometimes made me wonder about that lifestyle.
However, in adulthood, I came to understand that having money isn't synonymous with being happy. I started to admire the lessons my middle-class roots instill in me contentment, obligation and resilience. I know being without, not having it all immediately, would make me stronger and motivate me to succeed hard. Eventually, I learned to be thankful for my upbringing.
I think that my family is integral to helping shape who I has become. It's their sacrifices, guidance and love that made me the man I am today. A change of families could bring me wealth, but perhaps it could rob me of the emotional support and connection I cherish.
I'm grateful for a middle-class upbringing that offered both financial security and strong family connections. I understand that every family has its challenges, but what I learn and the love I experience is worth more than anything. So I would proudly stay with my family.
