Will Dale Steyn ever overtake Pollock as the leading test wicket taker for South Africa

in #cricket6 years ago

Can you believe it !!! Dale Steyn could be out for another 4-6 weeks and likely miss the rest of the India tour of South Africa. Dale failed to get through his first full day back on the field on the second day of the ongoing test match (6 January 2018) without sustaining yet another injury. He sustained serious tissue damage to his left heel, after landing awkwardly in the footholds during his 18th over.

Although that suggests that Steyn will not take part in the remainder of the SA vs IND series, Dr. Moosajee (team doctor) said that Steyn would visit an ankle surgeon from Cricket South Africa's medical team for a second opinion on Sunday and perhaps be able to play again later this series.

I was pretty much devastated after hearing this news, because all of us was on our toes desperately wanting Dale Steyn to overtake the legend Shaun Pollock’s record of 421 Test scalps for most international Test wickets by a South African player.

But the South Africa pacer has been troubled by injuries in the last couple of seasons, currently sitting on 419* (2 Short of Pollock Record), previously injuring his shoulder which led to 14 months out of international cricket.

I really love to watch Dale in action, and i desperately want him to reach the milestone in the near future. Only 3 wickets to pass Pollock ...
What do you guys think ??? Steyn vs injury ??? Will he do it ???
