- Malta Grants “Legal Certainty” to Cryptocurrencies
Known for its advocacy of blockchain technologies, Malta has now become the first country in the world to provide legal certainty to cryptocurrencies. On July 4, the parliament of Malta officially passed three bills into law providing legal certainty for cryptocurrency-based projects. The bills in question are the Malta Digital Innovation Authority Act, the Innovative Technological Arrangement and Services Act, and the Virtual Financial Asset Act. The new laws regulate various aspects of the crypto industry and govern the compliance of crypto-based enterprises with the existing regulations.

The mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto — the pseudonym of the individual(s) responsible for releasing the Bitcoin white paper in 2008 — has possibly dropped a hint at writing a book about the original cryptocurrency.
The cryptic message detailing the possible literary work appeared Friday on a website allegedly connected to Nakamoto. The site mentions the “first excerpt to a literary work consisting of two parts”, describing it as “a short story if you will, with some of the most brought up questions and answers. I wanted the people and the facts to be known.”
- Up To 25 Crypto Exchanges To Be Licensed By The Philippines in Economic Zone
On June 27th, 2018, the Philippine government announced their intent to license up to 25 cryptocurrency exchanges for operation in a special economic zone.
The exchanges will operate in the tax-friendly Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) and Freeport, which is a government-controlled and regulated center in the northern Luzon region. Each exchange will be required to pass a number of tests and will have to invest at least $1 million over the next two years to obtain the licence.
