IMF Chairman: encourage "equitable means" to monitor cryptocurrencies and blockchains
According to Coindesk, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Chairman Christine Lagarde discussed in her new blog post encouraging the adoption of "fair means" supervises on cryptocurrencies. Mrs.Lagarde said global regulators must agree on the role of cryptocurrencies, and she also envisaged the IMF could act as a mediator in these discussions. Lagarde believed that policy makers should be “open-ended” because cryptocurrencies might eventually change financial conditions. However, she predicted the cryptocurrency industry would not make brokers and bankers obsolete. Regarding the central bank's introduction of cryptocurrency, Lagarde said that if privately-issued crypto assets still had risks and the instability, then the central bank might need to provide digital funds.
