More more FUD : No more Coinbase for Singapore users- Last date May 15th

In Singapore the easiest way to Buy/Sell cryptocurrency was via Coinbase . It was via a third party merchant Xfers that the bank transfer & purchases were carried out. Essentially xfers is kinda broker that enables crypto transaction between your bank & Coinbase.

But now guess what! I just received this e-mail from the Coinbase/Xfers team.

Thank you for being a valued customer. We appreciate you choosing Coinbase and Xfers to buy, sell, and manage your digital assets. We are reaching out to you because both Coinbase and Xfers have decided to pause our payment partnership in Singapore.

The growth of cryptocurrency interest within Singapore is heartening. However, we soon realized that the Coinbase/Xfers integration is not suitable in its current form to handle the growth.

This change will allow both companies to prioritize efforts to provide a better payment experience for customers and focus resources on new projects. We are excited to see the growing interest in cryptocurrencies within Singapore, and look forward to investing resources to improve the customer experience in the future.

On May 15th, 2018, Coinbase will pause the ability to buy or sell digital assets using the Xfers integration.

We want to ensure that you have the opportunity to buy or sell digital assets using Xfers before the integration is paused, should you wish to do so. Over the next four weeks, all Coinbase customers in Singapore will receive a series of notifications reminding them to buy or sell before May 15th. After the ability to sell is disabled on May 15th, customers will still be able hold their digital assets on the Coinbase platform and withdraw them at any time over the blockchain. However, for the time being, it will no longer be possible for those customers to sell their digital assets on the Coinbase platform.

Going forward, Singaporean customers will still be able to make purchases on the Coinbase platform using debit cards, as well as continue sending or receiving digital assets. We look forward to resuming buy and sell for cryptocurrencies in Singapore.

Xfers has been working with the relevant local authorities and is in the midst of getting the relevant approval to better support the growing demand for cryptocurrencies in Singapore. We are confident that we will return with a better experience.
