Bitfinex Users from USA - Do not use the Exchange or you may get locked out

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

It might have come to your attention that users from United States are not allowed anymore to trade or use for any other purpose the Bitfinex platform. Bitfinex has had a lot of problem withe US regulatory authorities including the Bit License issue, it was until this August when they decided to completely shut down their operations for US residents.

If you have missed the announcements Bitfinex published on August 11, 2017 and on October 16, 2017, you can click on the respective dates.

But it didn't stop the US residents from using Bitfinex, some are using it with VPN's, others with fake credentials etc. And it's been months that they are using it quite successfully, thinking that they are gaming the system. But that's not the case.

You have been monitored thoroughly.

Bitfinex is monitoring all IP's, unusual patterns, behaviors to implement their decision. Today, Bitfinex issued a final warning stating;

If you are an individual user, you are a US resident and you are still actively using the Bitfinex.com platform for trading or offering margin funding, will you be required stop using the Bitfinex.com platform immediately.

I believe most of you might be unaware of the recent announcements and still using Bitfinex. But just to be clear, it's very risky. You might lose your money or get yourself locked out of your account. It's probably a good idea to get registered with Binance and have a smooth trading experience with minimal fee's i.e; 0.1% and if you are using Binance token (similar to Bitshares) you will have to pay only 0.05%.

I thought I should warn you, as most of you might still be using it in ignorance.

Sort:

I can't believe some people would actually risk losing their funds just to use Bitfinex from the U.S. I'd much rather use an exchange like Binance than be under that constant stress.

Bitfinex has a good liquidity with some wonderful features such as margin trading, loan facility and IOTA availability etc. Also, it's one of the oldest exchanges so people are still using it. But yeah, why risk your money? Probably they don't know yet.

Hmm, I suppose they are going to have to learn the hard way.

lolx.. I hope not xD
