Venezuela and its new cryptocurrency Petro

President Maduro of Venezuela announced on 3 December 2017 that Venezuela will create a new cryptocurrency for Venezuela which will be called Petro.

The currency will be backed by Venezuelan oil, gold, gas and diamond reserves.
