With features and segments written for the community by the community, this newsletter is your go-to place for everything RISE. On this week’s edition of the newsletter, we’re dedicating this issue the 2017 Web Summit that was held in Lisbon this past week!
We are also hosting two Google Hangouts this weekend at 10:00 and 20:00 GMT on the 11th November for those of you that may want to know more about RISE’s participation in this year’s Web Summit. So please join us!
We would also like to involve you, the reader! We would love to feature photos from your hometown or travels! If you would like your photo to be featured on next week’s newsletter, please send your photo and a small description of the photo and the place it was taken, to @lunaandthemoons on Slack. The person we choose each week will be rewarded with 20 RISE, we will be running this till December 29th 2017, so please send us your pictures! We hope you enjoy this week’s newsletter and what the RISE platform has in store.
Thanks for reading!
This week’s photo winner is from @spookiestevie! Taken above the Hoover Dam on a recent helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon. The construction of the Hoover Dam started in 1931 and is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon off the Colorado River. It stands tall at 221 meters high and produces about 4 billion kilowatt-hours of hydroelectric power each year for use in Nevada, Arizona, and California - enough to serve 1.3 million people.
Thanks again to @spookiestevie for this picture! Check Slack for your reward! If you would also like your photo to be featured next week’s issue and be in with the chance of winning 20 RISE, feel free to contact @lunaandthemoons on Slack!
Normal Books Feature
As you may remember from last week, we mentioned that we are featured in The 2018 Standard Catalogue of Cryptocurrencies by Normal Books. We’re very excited about this opportunity because this is our first feature in a book of this kind. Normal Books describes itself as a space that ‘wants to anticipate change, foster creativity, and encourage and innovation.’ As RISE’s main aspiration is to be a platform for creators and growth, we believe that our mission statements are complimentary.
This book would make an excellent gift for your friends and family. It will be ready for this festive season and is available for pre-order from the 1st December 2017 and can be accessed from this link: http://www.normalbooks.info/
Web Summit Highlights
This week we come to you from the 2017 Web Summit Lisbon! The annual Web Summit is one of the largest tech events to ever take place. With over 60,000 people attending from 170 different countries and over 1,200 guest speakers, this year’s Web Summit is the first RISE had the pleasure of attending. We were invited by the PIVX Team to support them in promoting distributed ledger technologies. Our RISE representative spent 3 days networking with other small businesses, start- ups and large established companies.
Some of the main topics of conversation for this year’s event were centered on climate change and artificial intelligence. Whilst this was happening on the main stages, our representative was able to establish bonds with other Tech companies looking to learn more about blockchain. We were able to promote RISE’s Delegated Proof of Stake protocol, which is comparably greener, than Proof of Work as it uses less resources and less electricity.
Our main goal for this event was to reach out and inform other businesses about RISE who may not know about Delegated Proof of Stake as a protocol. We also informed other companies about what RISE has to offer being a decentralized mobile application platform where developers will be able to create their own applications through interacting with our blockchain. One of the main discussions was how we could get our Python API integrated into Universities and Colleges, thus enabling a new user community that does not have to build their own blockchain but can utilize ours. We managed to meet two associates who are working to promote RISE in Universities and Colleges in the US as our first port of call into integrating into education.
After promoting RISE and Networking at the Web Summit, RISE has been invited to speak at the largest Web and Mobile Expo in the US in 2018. We also had the opportunity to meet a software engineer and consultant who have invited RISE to speak at a meet-up in Germany next year. One of the highlights for this trip was the discussion with two cryptocurrency exchanges that are
working alongside the RISE management team to feature us on their exchanges.
We’d like to thank the Web Summit for allowing us to attend this event, as well as our friends at PIVX who invited us to represent blockchain technologies, alongside them. We’d also like to thank the businesses willing to discuss RISE at length, such as IBM, BNP Paribas, Siemans, Dark Room, The Gibraltar Stock Exchange, Lab 1492, Zeus Exchange, Inoxoft and the many more we spoke to. See below for pictures of RISE at the event!

Rise did very well over the forks. It is hard to hold though as it keeps going up and down so much I get a bit worried about it.
