Ignoring the media can be difficult. We're bombarded with negative messages that are used to shape the way you and I think. News outlets, such as CNN, Foxnews, and MSNBC, have an agenda to manifest civil unrest, right here in our country. Judging by the lack of ratings these news agencies have, it would appear Americans have decided to look for alternatives. However, the alt-media has proven to be even worse in how they present the news. The news is often strategically presented to elicit raw emotions, particularly fear and anger. When information is presented with the intent to cause anger amongst its audience, only conflict between groups and individuals will occur. Let's also not forget that fear is another raw emotion the media likes to manipulate us into feeling. Fear creates learned helplessness, so people who fall victim to it feel powerless to work through their own problems. Rather than resolving negative circumstances, people want to escape reality by continuing to consume bad programming. Here are a few examples of how the media pushes fear and anger. Here is a piece discussing the removal of a name, from an historic area in Boston, because of race. When in reality, Yawkey Owned the Redsoxs organization decades ago, before most of us were born. This story was not in the news until statues, of famous individuals, were being removed all throughout the country.
