Good night Finland, good morning Cyprus!
Dear all,
Greetings from our family vacation on Cyprus. We took a short take off and headed to warm, sunny island of Cyprus. We have been here various times, but never before with a kid, hence all is new for us, or at least, we see it all with a new eyes. 🇨🇾👨👩👧
We are staying near to Protaras, but we rented a car in order to explore some new beaches close to us (recommendations are fully welcomed 😎). So far we have been at beaches from Agia Triada to Fig Tree Bay. Today we visited Nissi Beach at Agia Napa - this splendid beach with clear water we are definitely going to visit more often. Have I already mentioned, we are staying here for three weeks!? 🤩☀️ I hope during this time we can create here immemorial family memories that we can reminisce when we are older. ❤
Baby Sulimur at Agia Triada’s beach. What is this captivating, playful (and rather bad tasting 😁🤘🏽) sand?
Exproling Nissi Beach.
My first glance of Cyprus was 13 years ago, when I traveled with my parents and siblings to Agia Napa. My parents fell in love with the kindness of Cypriots, the warm weather and gorgeous beaches, which led to the point that few years ago they bought villa in Cyprus (guess where we are staying at 😉).
Staying at our own place has enabled us to barbecue at evenings and to quiten nap-times to our kid. So far we preferred only local products, and yummy, the taste of fresh ingredients is indulgent!
It’s barbecue time.
Some mornings we made breakfast and the other mornings we ate at local restaurants/cafeterias. I have to say, I’m positively surprised that superfood and healthy food trends have arrived to Cyprus as well.
One morning we ate porridge made of chia seeds with locally cultivated strawberries, fullgrained toast with avocados and eggs and oat porridge prepared with coconut milk. The combination of all of this was delicious.🤤
I have been told that Cypriots are extendedly family-friendly, and now we have experienced it ourselves. It’s easy to stay here with kid(s) as children are warmly welcomed and all of restaurants and cafeterias have child’s sitting chair available. Futher, at passport control they took us first because we were traveling with child (and to be mentioned, our daughter behaved well, therefore that wasn’t the reason of priorisation😁). That was the pleasant first touch of Cyprus and Cypriots as the gesture made our arrival easier.
If this post reaches Cypriots or someone who is familiar with local habits and/or regulations, I’m eager to hear your advice about traveling in a car with baby aged under 12 months. 🙏🏽💡 We rented a car from Hertz, but unfortunately it was not possible to have sufficient car seat for baby as we were told that locals don’t use if for babies when traveling by cars. I’m little bit concerned (and confused, to be honest) on how to drive safety with a child. We have a Tula baby carrier, but I don’t think it provides the extended safety to baby. 🤔
All in all, we are looking forward to our family time here, to learn more about the local culture, and to explore new places.
Wishing you all a sunny week,
Family Sulimur
Baby sulimur is so adorable!!
What sunscreen do you use on her?
Thank you @lindiry 🤗.
I use Avène’s sun lotion with UVA/SPF of 50+. I bought it from Finnish pharmacy (Yliopiston apteekki), and they originally recommended us Aco’s sun lotion for kids. I ended up, however, buying Avène’s lotion as it’s paraben-free, it has high sun protection, made for sensitive skin and (most of all), it’s water-resistant. I didn’t bought the children’s variation of lotion as I wanted it to have those “white stripes “ from lotion in order to be sure which parts of kid’s body I have lotioned. 🧐🤷🏼♀️
Cool! I'll have to buy something for my son soon, that's a good choise for us too. :)
Looks like you really are having a great time! Great photos!
Have a nice holiday. 👍🏻 Remember to use sun lotion.
