Mariah Carey achieved success over her self titled debut album, though her second album "Emotions" was quite underwhelming compared to its predecessor. She released an EP/live record as part of the MTV Unplugged programme. "MTV Unplugged" (EP) achieved success, and its lead single, a cover of The Jackson 5 original "I'll Be There" became a global success as it went to number 1 on US Billboard Hot 100, and number 2 on UK Singles chart.
