[Steemit All Stars] JLA Minimalistic Trading Cards Set

in #design8 years ago (edited)

I remember when I was a small child in the mid 80s playing with all sorts of trading cards, especially the ones from DC’s “Super Friends” that were a huge hit in many Spanish speaking countries.

So I thought about some real heroes in Steemit (in my opinion) and wanted to honor them with these 100% original card designs directly influenced by that ‘86 circa spirit and style.

@jesta aka Cyborg

The man behind Steemit’s command center Steem Stats connects us mortals directly to the blockchain. Jesta is the bridge between our current evolutionary state and The Singularity.

@cass aka Green Lantern

cass has proven to possess the ability to design and manifest any shape with his powerful ring and wild imagination.

@piedpiper aka The Flash

This guy is everywhere, he’s cool and awesome but it’s his chatty, easy-going personality and eloquence that reminds you of The Fastest Man Alive.

@heiditravels aka Wonder Woman

While she doesn’t seem to be the warrior type, she’s undeniably beautiful and appears to be as kind and compassionate as Diane Prince herself. She’s also been around the world and knows every culture known to man (and woman!).

@dollarvigilante aka Lex Luthor

Oh yes! My recent nemesis @dollarvigilante has taken Steemit’s world by storm lately. Meet the full-blown narcissistic power-mad ANCAP magnate of Steemit.

@federicopistono aka Batman

Can you believe this guy wrote a book on how to survive the upcoming robot apocalypse? He's an AI researcher, activist and God knows what else. He has a plan for everything therefore he’s none other than the legend himself, The Dark Knight.

Bonus Round - The Overlords

@dantheman aka Aquaman

The King of the Seven Seas, The Whale Whisperer. One word from him and all marine life at Steemit goes coo-coo.

@ned aka Superman

Steemit’s steel boy. He’s rarely seen as he has the ability to travel to other galaxies and planets. Seems to spend a lot of time in his Fortress of Solitude. You can always count on his diplomatic skills and infinite power when needed.

lol Flash eh? Sure, why the hell not :P

You really remind me of him, he's supposed to be very extrovert and open. I'm not sure what versions are they doing in the next movie or tv show but the Flash from the JLA cartoons and classic comics is a cool guy like you!

Thanks man glad you enjoyed them, I appreciate your support.

Very funny and interesting article!

Simply Great Information and Presentation

This is awesome! Do these cards come with a stick of bubble gum inside?

They dont, I'm cheap like that.

By the way, you could be Martian Manhunter, my favorite hero. Please don't stain his reputation!

Dude, I wanted to be Martian Manhunter! (whine)

Although . . . if you go back to JLU (the animated series), The Question was your go-to crypto conspiracy guy. God, I loved that show. How is it that DC could do such great cartoons, but screw up the movies, and Marvel more or less the reverse?

The Question is great, it's basically Rorschach though haha...

I don't know man, I think they are just trying to do something different and focusing on the whole gritty 80-90s DC stuff which I find pretty stupid. You can make superheroes badasses without making them cynical. But oh well, they think they can make Superman be Dr. Manhattan and Batman Rorschach. They just don't understand their characters that well. Spidey only took Marvel 15 minutes of screen time to do him justice!

Actually the reverse. Rorschach is a much crazier clone of the Question.

Yes I forgot about it! I'm not a big comics fan but I've always loved DC superheroes from the animated series and toys growing up ;).

I've only read (and loved) Watchmen, Batman Year One, The Dark Knight, All Star Superman, The Killing Joke, Kingdom Come and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth.

Any suggestions? Especially anything starring J'onn J'onzz ;)

Can't reply below because nesting (6 deep).

J'onn is under-utilized. The best DC thing I've read recently is the Starman revival from the 90s, and he ain't in it. Though the Young Justice cartoon was OK, and there was a girl teeny-bopper Martian in that.
