Día de San Valentín, día de los enamorados, día del amor, día del amor y la amistad, día de la amistad, día de ser cursi, día de agradecer, día comercial, día de gastos innecesarios, día de comprar comida costosa y vino barato... Sea como sea que llames, interpretes, u opines sobre esta "festividad" que se celebra cada 14 de Febrero en todo el mundo en verdad, no importa, por que...
Ignoring the date that was approaching, a month ago we started developing these illustrated avatars for multiple uses, at first it was just to practice this style of illustration, then we thought to make them with several funny expressions to make stickers for WhatsApp or even for Instagram Stories. It turned out that we finished them just in time to come up with a raffle for our Multitakers followers, and so we did.
Ignorando la fecha que se aproximaba, hace un mes que desarrollabamos estos avatars ilustrados para múltiples usos, al principio fué solo para practicar este estilo de ilustración, luego pensamos en hacerlos con varias expresiones divertidas para hacer stickers de WhatsApp o incluso para Stories de Instagram... Resultó que los terminamos justo a tiempo para idear un sorteo para nuestros seguidores de Multitakers, y así lo hicimos.
Speaking of the development of this type of illustration, we like to start with a simple geometric shape, depending on the shape of each person's face the most common shapes to start with are the circle and the hexagon.
Then we start to manipulate it until in a way similar to the real face, just like that. The second step is to shape the nose, it could look like anything but it is one of the elements that define a lot whether a face is similar to the real one or not.
Hablando del desarrollo de este tipo de ilustraciones, nos gusta empezar con una simple forma geométrica, dependiendo de la forma del rostro de cada persona las formas más comunes para empezar son el circulo y el hexagono.
Luego empezamos a manipularlo hasta que de una forma similar al rostro real, de igual. EL segundo paso es darle forma a la nariz, podría parecer cualquier cosa pero es uno de los elementos que definen muchisimo que un rostro sea similar al real o no.
After having the nose relatively ready the next step is to make eyes, eyebrows, mouth, and if there is any strong facial characteristic this is the moment to define it. Finally and super important is to add the hair which is practically the final touch to make it look like the real person.
Luego de tener la nariz relativamente lista el proximo paso es hacer ojos, cejas, boca, y de existir alguna característica facial fuerte este es el momento para definirla. Por último y super importante es agregarle el cabello lo que es prácticamente el toque final para que se parezca a la persona real.
Throughout the process, small changes are made to each element to make it more similar. That's why each small change means copying the whole face and continuing to work, so that you can always return to an exact previous point without losing any work.
Finally the complexion of the person's body is evaluated and equally with geometric shapes it is shaped. Normally we make a "naked body" to be sure that these are the proportions we want and that they match the real subject, besides, all clothes go on a body... Doesn't it?
Durante todo el proceso se van haciendo pequeños cambios en cada elemento para que haya mayor semejanza. Esa es la razon por la que cada pequeño cambio significa copiar el rostro entero y seguir trabajando, para siempre poder volver a un punto anterior exacto sin perder nada de trabajo.
Por último se evalua la complexión del cuerpo de la persona e igualmente con formas geométricas se le da forma. Normalmente hacemos un "cuerpo desnudo" para estar seguros de que son las proporciones que queremos y de que coninciden con el sujeto real, además, toda ropa va sobre un cuerpo... ¿No?

The Multitakers raffle was a success and other people asked us to make illustrated characters for them, we don't show them here because after all, those characters are graphic representations of themselves so maybe it's not right for us to show them here.
El sorteo de Multitakers fué todo un exito y además otras personas nos encargaron realizar personajes ilustrados para ellos, no los mostramos acá porque despues de todo, esos personajes son representaciones gráficas de ellos mismos asi que quizás no sea correcto que nosotros los mostremos aqui.
