Bitcoin closing in on record high as price rises 10% in 24 hours
This means it is only $3,500 (£2,518) short of the record $58,000 (£41,730) high it hit in February, as the cryptocurrency experiences a strong start to 2021.
Bitcoin opened the year at around $29,000 (£20,865) and quickly rose over $40,000 (£28,780), before dipping back to $30,000 (£21,585) at the end of January.
