I personally think steem has got a real chance. I am biased to steem and speculating it would surpass many social media (if not all ) in coming couple of years . As steemit grows, there will be growing pains and unforeseen troubles . But at the end , steem with all its resources (dev , leaders , miners and of course community) will conquer .
