What happened today at Work an Australian Security Officer and Civil marriage dispute that upset my day!

Well Most people call us rent a cops. Well i am not one and never want to be. Today started off like any other day. I work in Shopping Centre's so i rocked up and collected keys early because i have not worked this site on regular basis for about 4 years. I made my way to the Security Office a little whole near rubbish compactor and loading docks around the back. Looked at notes and quickly reviewed site specific procedures.

Commenced initial patrols all areas and everything is great. I like this site on the Southside of Brisbane i had some fond memories. So the first part of the day i checked in with retailers and made sure i was up to speed on goings on and calmed the shoplifting incident down from last night where the guard was injured (i was covering him).

When the Security Phone rings you always think "here we go" and sure enough the details come through clear as mud as always and sometimes just keeping someone on the phone to get more info is rough. Huge disturbance in retail shop was reported. Yelling screaming and lots of people arguing (reported).

Righto brisk walk there and upon arrival teenage girl crying and customers upset and everyone wants to get in first. Quickly establish key players and coax one man calmly into the mall area away from store he did not want to leave. Typical Civil dispute over money with solicitors and emotions are high.

Yep i was felt i was going to get on top of this one and someone must have called the Police. They pretty much went through the steps i went through to try and create an amicable outcome for all involved.

The rest of the day is relatives coming in trying to tell there version and me telling them i don't want anything to do with it and they always had more paperwork they wanted to show me.

I feel for people and love to help them but my only concern is keeping the peace and an environment where people feel safe. I always wonder why people think i am going to crash tackle people to the ground or really have any police powers. I do what i can hey?

The Police came back later and the store was closed and parties had left and we had a further discussion and it seems even they don't want to get involved and are sick of people calming abuse to get money and thinking it is so important.

I am not a lawyer and people coming out of the wood work all day to state what they saw is just a pain in the butt. I get paid minimum wage with no opportunities for career advancement so in short calm yourselves down and use your lawyers and keep it out of the public domain.

I am not the best writer and have been a Security officer on and off for 20 years i was hoping when i started blogging here that i might be able do make some coin but it turns out you need talent and to know how to post pictures.

Feel free to comment or ask questions i have tried to keep identities a secret as well as location for obvious reasons but i have integrity and see the best and worst in people everyday and it takes it's toll.
Warm Regards paulchristo

Hi! This post has a Flesch-Kincaid grade level of 8.0 and reading ease of 78%. This puts the writing level on par with Tom Clancy and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Yep you just picked up on my learning disability. I have tried to hide it my whole life and now i don't care. Lots of love mate and help others where you can. Did you like what you could understand. If your not going to help then get out of the way bloke. Cheers.
