I was a professional thinker

I have been and I kind of still am a professional thinker. I don't say it with pride and it's not exactly a self compliment. I'm not talking about thinking deep about issues, I'm talking about thinking deep about it and doing nothing afterwards. You could easily fall into the trap of overthinking. I fall into this trap when I'm very anxious.

I end up going in circles with elaborate plans or fall into the never ending cycle of more research or more prepping and not one single move to execute. What good is information if you won't apply it and get a positive results? If there's a lesson learned in pain, and the same situation falls before you and you know the right thing because of previous experience, and you don't make the move based on the new wisdom, what was the point?

All of that is nothing but wasted time. Doing something is more productive than just thinking about it. Of course if you make moves without first thinking about it, you could waste resources and thre are timed when the right thing to do is doing nothing. I'm also not talking about such situations. I'm only talking about situations that demand your actions for results to come.

Thinking can be so useful, but when it is the only thing you are doing, that is just an excuse to not make progress. It looks like there are a million things that can go wrong which is what makes you fall in the trap. We can make the act of doing feel abstract, and the act of not doing can feel like it makes the failure stakes lower. Most of the time, we are not preparing ourselves to act on an idea, we are just scaring ourselves.

When we actually do things, we can quickly learn what does not work and our ideas are almost always incorrect, but what is almost always useful is the actual wisdom we can gather.

I don't take this as a simple advice because my life and experience has proved this so many times.

The difference between where you are and where you want to be is not a better plan, it's an attempt. It could be an attempt that teaches you the things that planning can never teach you.

It's important not to constantly get lost in thought experiments. However, some ideas are never meant to be put into practice. That, too, has its place.

Yes, some things are just for thoughts, that I agree with
