Keeping quiet is much harder

I had an argument with my friend yesterday about a very important matter involving cash and the way I told him about it, He disagreed with me and said that I was only looking to continually expand my argument and prove that I was right when he was right. But, it wasn't an important enough topic to continue arguing with him when I could have just moved forward with my life by not spending another second arguing with him that afternoon.

I agree that most people fail to communicate with each other appropriately. Lack of communication skill is a real limitation to easily resolving issues we have with each other.

As people talk more with one another, they become better at talking. But I am also afraid that many people will see talking as an art form. Because of that, if someone has attempted to speak with you and you did not speak back, they will have experienced difficulties trying to get something across to you because of your lack of communication.

I've also had a lot of similar instances happen to me. Someone sent me a text message that was both badly written and annoying to read. I spent about an hour preparing a response to the message but decided not to send it because I was convinced that it was not going to solve any of the problems either person had. After some days I come to terms with the fact that it was a good thing I did not send the message because it was never going to benefit either one of us.

I only listen to those who are talking about something that does not involve me. I used to talk constantly just to have something to talk about and now I have learned it is better to walk away from those types of conversations than to attempt to convince yourself otherwise.

I only speak when doing so is necessary. You can talk but can you keep quiet when your brain badly wants to respond?
