The End
What happens after the players are done with the chess board? Pawns, kings, knights, Queens and every thing on the chess board gets packed into a box, the same box. When the game is only, they are not the same, they have value, they will be remembered as not being the same but in that box, they're all wood curved differently. Their relevance and power is only when they game is on.
That is exactly how life really is. The end does that to everyone. No one in the grave cares about what you built in your lifetime.
It's a really harsh truth. But the chess game is actually what makes this truth so helpful if you can fully understand it.
The king is carried around the board first in a game of chess and gets point values assigned like it matters more than the other pieces. The player protects and prioritizes it.
The pawn gets moved one square forward until it gets captured and moved to the unused piece box. Then the game ends and every piece goes back to the box.
Most people spend their entire lives enjoying their rank. Trying to feel like the king and they think their title is something that lives on after they're gone, when in actuality, it dies the moment it leaves the room. The true measure of a person is about the moves on the board and not about the piece they started behind.
The piece that managed to push forward toom the hit, had the fanfare and disregarded all odds and implications. The king that sat behind the walls and let the pawn take the hit. Two woods but different life.
Don't forget you will not take your reputation with you when you die. It'll stay here and be remembered and perhaps benefits those that are your relatives or those who know you or were positively impacted by your work. But it does nothing for you after you're gone.
Everyone famous and everyone unknown dies and ends up in the exact same silence.
The focus for me isn’t how do I become king, but what is the actual game I'm playing? What is the game that determines how I show up when the clock is running?
Because I already know that when the game is played out, if it all ends the same for everyone, it doesn’t matter what position you had, what rank people called you, or what title you held.

After the game is before the game ;-)) Here, the pieces spend a short while standing on the board, looking decorative and defiant, before the next game begins – they have a full ‘life’ ;-))
Now that you brought the picture up I was actually wondering, if that connects in anyway to the cats have lives 😂🤔
