The thing with introverts

It’s not like being an introvert is black and white. There are 4 different types of introverts and learning about them helped me understand myself better. It helped me understand that introverts are different and helped me realize it is possible to be a mix of different types. It’s not common for a person to be strictly one type and usually people fall within the spectrum of two or more. All 4 types introverts have at least 1 thing that represents me, so I guess I could say I'm them all and yeah I guess I’m all of them at the same time, with some being more dominant in specific situations.

Social introverts like being alone, but they like going to small social events. They can do that so well as long as they have time to rest and they are picky about who they are or who the want to be with. They are not shy or awkward around people though. It’s just that they need time to recharge after a social event. I personally like to listen to people talk.

Thinking introverts are independent and they are deep thinkers. They are the epitome of think before you speak, but they can also over think a lot and overthinking means they might be slow to make a decision or almost never make the decision in time. The explanation of this is really in the words. Thinking introverts are the kinds of people who are usually lost in thought and they take a lot of time to think about something before they speak. That’s most definitely me.

Worrying about being judged, messing up or feeling embarrassed makes anxious introverts avoid social situations altogether. Their self awareness means that they might be even more nervous in a crowd and they prefer calm and predictable situations.

Because of their more careful and less spontaneous disposition, restrained introverts take a longer time to open up and become less reserved about their thoughts. They prefer to be in the background and almost never enjoy being the center of attention.
