That scar won't go

The man sat there carrying everything that had happened, feeling sorry for his boy, his daughter, and his wife. But what hurt him the most was the shame. Shame for the sins of his past, shame for the fact that his son was unable to see the man he became as a good example and still saw the one he once was. He even took a strange pride in hearing that his son stood his ground and got caught in the middle of the fight, which made it even worse for him.

At first, the only thing he told his son before going to football matches with his friends was that he was not allowed to go to away games without him. After months of begging, he gave in and bought his son a ticket for a game against a team. He saw this as a fairly safe choice, the team did not sound like a team whose fans were likely to be violent. The boy told him that he would travel with the fans bus, but together with his friends, he chose to take the train.

On the way back, they met a gang of different team supporters. It started with the usual shouting. The boy and his friends were called names and teased but they answered back in the same way, telling the other team supporters to go back to their poverty, losing streak and failures. One of the older supporters got angry after the boy insulted him and called him a nonce. Then bottles flew from one side of the carriage to the other and the fight started.

It quickly became full fight, which was later caught on CCTV cameras. The video showed innocent passengers running into another carriage while the two gangs fought each other and beat each other badly. As soon as the train stopped at the station, the other team supporters group had one man pull out his blade and cut the boy's face from cheek to chin before running away from the train.

So now the boy came home with his father and will likely carry a scar for life. The mother was angry with the father and took their daughter to live with her sister. The man could not blame them, but he wished this would put some fear of that world in his son. Unfortunately, he heard him on the phone with his friends planning revenge on his attackers. Since this story became known, his old friends called him, wanting to settle the matter themselves. They just wanted another fight, but he knew deep down he wanted it too because an eye for an eye is still in his head.

The police were already looking into the case by that time and the attackers were still young boys who had never been convicted before, they will likely get only a mild punishment for what they did. He never got his revenge, but that scar has put bitterness in him.
