Mrs. Carolina enjoys exercising at the gym , in fact, she takes some supplements that, incidentally, make her more active.
She arrives daily around 6 am, ready for her routines, and also enjoys some music-related events that some of the teachers organize.
She has a daughter, however she spends a lot of time alone since she travels constantly for work, so some of the people who go to the gym are something like her family, at least that's what she always says. In fact, she exercises with people her age , she says she can't keep up with young
Mrs. Carolina has a goal: to pay for her own nursing home, something she mentions constantly. She says she doesn't want to be a burden on anyone and that she's seen a facility she likes, something her daughter says isn't fair to her. But Mrs. Carolina says that at her age, she decides, and her family should LEAVE her decide.
The daughter has no choice but to accept what her mother says, but as some people tell her, Mrs. Carolina knows perfectly well what she's doing and is very lucid. Perhaps with the passage of time she will change her mind, something the daughter hopes will happen, so all that remains is to wait for her decision. But the way Mrs. Carolina exercises and how active she is, it will possibly be several years before she makes a decision.
People as active as she is have enough autonomy to decide, something the daughter analyzes and this makes her feel better , the thought of seeing her mother in a nursing home doesn't seem pleasant to her, but she understands that her mother makes her own decisions.
Mrs. Carolina feels happy going to the gym, so her daughter decides to continue with her life and allow her mother to do what she likes; it's a decision they both discuss and it makes them both happy.
The photos are mine, taken with my SAMSUNG S20FE mobile phone.

If she is that active there is no reason to go to a nursing home at all. If she is more like a skeleton, needs diapers, to be washed and so on, I bet her daughter will not have the energy to take care of her on long term.
I wonder if it isn't too expensive and too late to start saving for a nursery home. With us it is: the more money you have, the more you pay and it isn't said you will be looked after better. They simply lack the caretakers. Waiting half a day for someone to help you get on your stockings is better at home trying yourself instead of in a room of 3*4 where they tell you to go to bed at 8 pm

That's exactly the point, needing someone to bathe you, to do things you used to do yourself. I don't like depending on other people. I've learned to be independent and it will be very hard for me to have someone taking care of me. That's why I work, so I can pay them well for that job. Honestly, imagining this isn't pleasant, but it's another stage of life.
I agree with this idea of paying for the place we want to be when we get old. I've heard people say, "They're already dead, they've finally rested," and it's the ones who are resting now, those who have to stop taking care of the elderly. Let's be honest, old age is when we have the most physical problems. It doesn't matter if we exercise, diet, etc, the immune system declines. For me, this is the worst stage of life.

I agree with you, no matter what we do, the immune system decline, something natural, but not pleasant to even imagine.

There is a difference between an elderly person moving into a care home of their own volition and being pressured into it... As long as one is free to make one’s own decisions, any unpleasant situation becomes bearable.

I'm young, but if I reach that age I would decide the same thing: To pay myself for the place where I want to spend my final days. It's not good to depend on others; they always get tired and you end up getting in their way.

By its packaging, it looks like it may be protein, although it could contain multiple energy-enhancing supplements as well. Old people often become more childlike in their behavior and crave attention. Although they may be fulfilled by conversations or by impacting their children’s lives, she may make friends in the old age home and probably can visit her family as much as she wants, unlike forced rehabilitation.

I think older people should be active, no matter where they are. I've seen some people just sitting and staring, with nothing to do. Being inactive affects both their physical and mental well-being.
