A POEM THAT IS NO LONGER WHOLE
A POEM THAT IS NO LONGER WHOLE
This is no longer poetry.
Just the remnants of sentences
that never became whole
because their owner was already broken.
There are no beautiful metaphors.
There are no deliberate rhymes.
Only I,
learning to spell Your name
among the scattered pieces.
I used to write about dreams.
Now I write so I don't drown.
I used to write for him to read.
Now I write for God to hear.
Yassir lana… yassir lana…
I can't string together a long verse.
That's enough.
Make it easier for us… make it easier for us…
Because being whole is not a requirement
for returning to You.
People say: "Finish the poem."
I answer: "I can't."
Let it be no longer whole.
Let it be just poetry.
As long as You remain God
who picks up the pieces.
