Falling Slowly - Cover by indy8phish (High Quality audio)
I know I posted my video of the song on DLive yesterday, but even when set to the highest viewing quality, I was not happy with the sound quality. It's all understandable of course, after having gone through file conversions and compression that it takes for an audio file to be uploaded in a video format, one cannot expect the audio quality to stay. So here is the audio version of my cover for *Falling Slowly* by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová.
I'm going to repeat myself, but after having seen the movie Once only a couple of years ago for the first time, I still can't get it out of my head. And not only the title song, all the songs in the movie have a special place in my heart and the way they are performed by Glen and Markéta, it just touches my soul on a whole different level.
And I know I may not have done the song justice, but I wanted to make a record of it, so here it is.
About the guitar harmonies at the end - I came up with those just by listening to the original track and the idea was to simply replace violins and cellos with the electric guitar. Being a huge Queen and Brian May fan, it seemed even more fitting to compile all those electric guitar tracks and add my own unique touch to the song by drawing inspiration from my musical influences.
Lyrics:
I don't know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can't react
And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You'll make it now
Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You'll make it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I'll sing along

Sounds great man! I had to wait 5 mins for Dsound to buffer but it was worth it. I liked when the electric guitar kicked in. How do you record so clean? I have been thinking about uploading one of my songs but the quality is just not there yet.
Yeah, the electric guitar part is my favourite on this track, too :D
Also, I added a soundcloud link in case dsound takes too long to buffer.
Have a look at my equipment, that's how I get it recorded so clean. The audio interface works wonders when it comes to instrument / vocals recordings. Man, I got like, 10 different guitar tracks there for the harmonies, it was great fun figuring those out and hearing the end result :)
