"Nehru was the reason for partition"- says Dalai Lama

On Wednesday, Dalai Lama gave analogy at Goa Institute of Management . Dalai Lama said that Nehru was gifted with experience, mistakes do occur. He also said that Mahatama Gandhi wanted to give the prime ministership to Mohammad Ali Jinnah. But Nehru refused . He was self centered. He said, 'I want to be PM'. If Jinnah had been made PM , then India and Pakistan would have been United and become one country. But mistakes do happen, The Dalai Lama said. Afterwords he also about India's ability to merge its rich traditional knowledge with modern facets of education.

In response to Dalai Lama , a historian Mridula Mukher jee said "Jawahar lal Nehru was the person who gave refuge to the Tibetans and the Dalai Lama". He also said that 'You can not blame any person for the partition of India. It was caused by the British Policy of Divide and rule.
