GLORY IN TRIBULATIONS
3 AND not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, KNOWING THAT TRIBULATION PRODUCES PERSEVERANCE.
4 AND PERSEVERANCE, [approved] CHARACTER; AND CHARACTER, HOPE.”
Romans 5:3–4 (NKJV)
Approved character is produced through tribulations. If you met a
believer who has not gone through any tribulations or challenges of life, they tend to be haughty, pompous, and be full of pride.
Godly character, also known as, approved character is formed through trials and tribulations. Human nature is rebellious; thus, things are learnt better and faster under tribulations or challenges or trials (Romans 5:3,4; James 1:3,12).
God would allow or permit trials or challenges through which godly character would be learnt, formed or produced, in your life.
God may put you in the midst of the unlovable people to teach you about love, and how to express the love that was deposited or poured out in you by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5; James 1:3). It takes a believer's cooperation with the Holy Spirit on the inside of him or her
to build a godly character, and that is through tribulations. Obedience is usually learnt through sufferings, even Jesus Christ did:
"THOUGH HE WAS A SON, YET HE LEARNED OBEDIENCE BY THE
THINGS WHICH HE SUFFERED" (Hebrews 5:8 NKJV).
Thus, be submissive and be ready to learn whatever God wanted you to learn in the tribulation that is brought your way. It is meant to shape and better you, but not meant at all for your destruction.
Peace.
