GOD IS NOT A MAN
18 SO IT HAPPENED JUST AS THE MAN OF GOD HAD SPOKEN TO THE KING, SAYING, “Two seahs of barley for a shekel, and a seah of fine flour for a shekel, shall be sold tomorrow about this time in the gate of Samaria.”
19 Then that officer had answered the man of God, and said, “NOW LOOK, IF THE LORD WOULD MAKE WINDOWS IN HEAVEN, COULD SUCH A THING BE?” AND HE [Elisha] HAD SAID, “IN FACT, YOU SHALL SEE IT WITH YOUR EYES, BUT YOU SHALL NOT EAT OF IT."
20 AND SO IT HAPPENED TO HIM, FOR THE PEOPLE TRAMPLED HIM IN THE GATE, AND HE DIED."
2 Kings 7:18–20 (NKJV)
God is not a man that could be jabbed, pointedly teased, mocked, or made fun of; He does not joke with His words (Numbers 23:19).
Even if you did not believe what is considered to be said by God, keep your mouth shut; do not go about and be saying how would it happen (2 Kings 7:19; Luke 1:18-20).
The king's officer went to the extent of saying If God were to make windows in heaven, what God said through Prophet Elisha would not be fulfilled or come to pass (2 Kings 7:1,2,19).
You should not be cynical, you should be a person of faith who speaks positively, and in line with God's written word. Unbelief displeases God, whilst faith pleases Him (Hebrews 11:6).
The man could not be part of the abundance of blessing God made available for His people after a long time of siege and drought (2 Kings 7:20). Stop being cynical, start believing God and His words, both the written word and that which is spoken through the mouth of His emissaries, prophets and ministers.
The currency of the kingdom of God on earth is faith. If you are doubtful and unbelief, you cannot walk with God and you cannot receive anything from Him (James 1:6,7).
What would make your relationship with God cordial is faith: "BUT WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE HIM: FOR HE THAT COMETH TO GOD MUST BELIEVE THAT HE IS, AND THAT HE IS A REWARDER OF THEM THAT DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM" (Hebrews 11:6 NKJV).
How it works:
• When you cultivated the habit of being quick to believe and doubted God not whenever He speaks. Faith pleases God whilst unbelief displeases Him! (Hebrews 11:6)
• You should also cultivate the habit of telling everything in your heart to God, let Him be your trusted confidant.
When this habit of telling Him everything is cultivated, whenever you get any result or answer to your requests, your faith in Him would be built up and your cordiality with Him would be strengthened.
• Your faith is also built up through the knowledge of the Bible and the practicing of it (Romans 10:17). That is, when you put the things you learned in the Bible to work or practice (James 1:22-25), and you were able to get results; your faith would be built up and strengthened.
• Another thing is the testimonies of what God has done in the lives of other people. Testimonies are meant to replicate themselves. If you did believe God for whatever He did in someone's life, God will repeat the same miracle in your life because He is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34,35).
You should have it established in your heart that God cannot lie, whatever He says or promises, He will make good: “GOD IS NOT A MAN, THAT HE SHOULD LIE, NOR A SON OF MAN, THAT HE SHOULD REPENT. HAS HE SAID, AND WILL HE NOT DO? OR HAS HE SPOKEN, AND WILL HE NOT MAKE IT GOOD?" (Numbers 23:19 NKJV)
Whatever God has said about your life will surely come to fulfilment in Jesus' name.
Peace!
