DAILY EARTH & SUN REPORT 12.21.2017
All space weather is calm. Solar wind intensification is expected in the coming 36 hours, new sunspots are growing fast and need to be monitored, along with the large plasma filament in earth-facing position near the equator.
Today is the shortest day of 2017 for anyone living north of the equator. It's the December solstice, when the sun reaches its lowest point on the celestial sphere. Northern winter begins at 11:28 a.m. EST. Because seasons are reversed on opposite sides of the equator, southern summer begins at the same time.
As someone suffering through the winters of the Norhern hemisphre, I hope every year that with dec21 the worst has peaked. But somehow that's wrong. Not even Global Warming is reliable. It's still mostly cold and ugly till the end of February;(
