Learning Challenge by Lunasilver Taught me 5 Commercial Sewing Skills — The 3R
To be honest, there are a lot of things I've learnt from this learning challenge and it happens that these things has exposed me in one way or another. I've also learnt new recipes and new commercial skills which I want to deliberate on. This particular recycling learning challenge by @lunasilver has taught me that there's more to sewing that just using new fabrics. You can recycle old ones and make them useful.
I tried it for the first time in week one even though it was stressful. Unfortunately, I won't be able to participate in this week's challenge because of situations beyond my control. This is one of the learning challenges I've been consistent on since the season started. Why? Because I love sewing and this 3R brought in new lessons for me too high I had to try things I've never done before.
Week 5 |

Unfortunately, I was unable to participate in week 6 even when I spent a lot of time working on the bag. I didn't have time to publish the post as I was editing a lot of pictures and videos for my client. We were told to recycle waste fabrics of denim into a bag and I did mine exactly as I was told with the required measurements. I didn't want to purchase denim fabrics to make it look plain and unique. I had to do the recycling myself so that I would confidently tell someone that I combined a lot of pieces of fabrics to produce this tote bag

This wasn't the most difficult of all the tasks given. This was third in line to the most difficult. I completed the challenge under 1 day. Though I didn't participate, I'm proud that I've been able to learn how to make a tote bag and I would try recycling more fabrics into beautiful bags for modelling purposes. Models in my city need such creativity to stand out. I can be selling it to them.
Week 4 |
|---|
This wasn't the most difficult, but it took me almost a full-day. You see this hat? It was my turn in the flesh. It's not as if I wouldn't have sewn it easily, but I was sharing a sewing machine with my dad while his apprentice use theirs. The apron and hat was the task for the week. For the first time I made a chef hat. I was so proud of myself that I was able to do this myself. I made use of a plain white material and pieces of the gum stain to make it strong and stand upright.
I started with the hat first before sewing the apron. The apron didn't give me a hard time because it was just the bias, hand and rope to tie it around my back. It was impressive and where I used it also added a bit of comedy to it because it was in someone's supermarket. I created a content out of this. It's just the finished products and how I was able to use it that I'll be displaying. How does this come in commercially? In my City, school children or students usually look for such to purchase for their practical. I can made it neat and presentable and distribute to schools who may need it to sell out to students. This is a commercial skill because that would fetch me money as well.

Week 3 |
|---|
The only hat that took me 1 full week to make. I felt discouraged a lot of times to participate in this challenge as the only male participant. But I did it and I also learnt from my mistakes even though I didn't do it perfectly. This came out well. It was just a hat and this kind of hat is what girls in my city like. So now that I've been trained on how to sew this bucket hat, I would love to also commercialise. The hat was made with a lot of technicalities even though it didn't come out as the tutor's hat.

Week 2 |

The next task was a key holder and I made this perfect and I made two of it. This is another commercial skill I learnt from this challenge. I made it beautiful with a jean material and beautiful colours of fabrics I used as my bias. This was the simplest of all I did. Looking for the hooks was difficult, but was attainable. I did it and this is something I can sell out to students who may be looking for holders like this that aren't plastic or rubber.

Week 1 |
|---|
This was the first of it kind that I did, the masterpiece that made me use different fabrics to make something unique and I made it into pieces to form a pattern as you can see. The pattern was quite technical, but I made something out of it.

These are a rundown of what I did from week 1-5 in the 3R learning challenge.. 5 commercial skills I can use to start of a recycling business for myself with fabrics. These are how challenges should be where you get to learn skills for free. I want to express my appreciation for taking her time to coach us on this. You can check my posts in my blog.

Wow 🤩😍
Impressive, my friend @bossl23. It fills me with joy to read the summary of the activity you carried out in this 30th season. You are a person with great perseverance, consistency, and determination. Every time I read that each project could be commercialized, it filled me with great excitement.
Contributing to the environment is not just a matter of the future; what we can actually do today, right now, is important. I once learned that if you learn to solve problems, you can also make money. This challenge has shown us that this lesson is true. All that remains is for us to put it into practice and enjoy the benefits.
I was waiting for your participation regarding the bag, but I was aware that that week was also very busy during a special time. I hope to enjoy the activities of season 31. You are welcome to participate. 🤗😘

You participated in all our previous courses, and it was solely due to a busy schedule that you were unable to join this one. Truly, I can understand just how frustrating this must be for you; after all, there are times when we wish to undertake certain activities but are prevented from doing so by our busy schedules. The results you achieved in all your previous courses were truly excellent. Please do continue to participate in upcoming competitions. With my very best wishes—Your Friend.
Thank you very much for the wishes. I really appreciate
