For context, this is a question I answered on Quora

407,000 of the measly 584,000 jobs added last year were in the healthcare/social assistance sector. That’s 7 out of every 10 new jobs going to a rent seeking industry that price gouges their customers and profits off of sickness and death. Actual productive capital bled jobs. Manufacturing shed 68,000 jobs. Retail lost 25,000 jobs in December alone at a time when seasonal hiring usually peaks. Warehouse clubs, super centers, and general merchandise retailers shed 19,000 jobs. Food and beverage retailers lost 9,000 jobs. Transportation and logistics lost 6,600 jobs in December as well.
