Dark Side of Economics #5 - Money and Power from War
This post contains the fifth video in my dark side of economics series. This post investigates the threat of war, actual war and what happens after the war. The post covers how the threat of war is used as a fear mongering technique. How war is used to promote the objectives of the elite. How money can be made from war and how money can be made rebuilding after war. The video also considers the movement to remove freedom as an offered solution to prevent war.
Fear Mongering and the threat of war
The threat of war is a very tool powerful tool to control the people. People in general do not want war. If there is a method to prevent war people are likely to accept or even call for that method to be implemented. Even if that method involves giving up freedom.
For people to be willing to give up their freedom, the threat needs to appear credible. The use of political propaganda to villainise countries and/or people is a great strategy for making a threat credible. Western mainstream media has repeatably villainised countries such as China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran. Western mainstream media has repeatably villainised people such as Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-un, Muammar Kaddafi, and Bashar al-Assad. These nations and people are being portrayed as dangerous and a threat.
This villainisation is supported by stories taken out of context, half-lies, and outright lies. Stories are covered in such a way that it appears that an attack or even war is imminent. Countries are constantly being placed on high alert in preparation of attacks or war. The propaganda machine of western media and governments is very powerful and persistent.
If propaganda alone was not enough, there are also acts of terrorism and false flag operations. These despicable tactics have been very common in the USA and Europe. Acts of terrorism are being used to create racial hatred toward. Islam is being branded as a religion of hatred and violence. People believe this as acts by Islamic extremists are portrayed as normal behaviour. The attack on the World Trade Centre in 2001 was blamed on Muslim terrorists lead by a man operating out of a cave.
The 2016 release of the 28 pages of the 911 report, not previously released, strongly implicated the involvement of Saudi Arabia. There was no mention of the internal organisation of the attack orchestrated within the US Government. Even though there is a shopping list of inconsistencies with the official story.
The relationships between western governments and corporations with the Saudi Arabian royal family is also greatly disturbing. It appears that the west are using Saudi Arabia to breed terrorist to attack the west as yet another fear mongering tactic to gain more power and remove more freedoms from the people. Most people find it hard to believe that our governments and people in power could be so insidious. We have been brought up to believe that our leaders and governments are here to represent the people and act in the best interests of the people. This sadly, is very rarely true.
Actual military conflicts
The threat of war is powerful and in most cases works well for leaders who want to seize power. Actual war is one step further. It has been 70 years since World War 2 ended. Throughout most of those 70 years, the threat of another world war has lingered. There has been over 40 years of the Cold War. There has been about 20 years of terrorism related war. There has been the on-and-off again threat of war with China. The wars in the Middle East are actual military conflicts that are also used as a threat for larger more global wars.
A major war allows the global elite to take even bigger steps to seize control over the people. War in itself with the extent of loss of life and injury is devastating. It is the extent of this devastation that nobody wants to see or experience again. A typical solution offered is the creation of blocks of nations linked politically, economically and through militaries. The League of Nations was formed after World War 1, and United Nations was formed after the World War 2. Since World War 2 and the start of the Cold War, many other blocks have been formed such as the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).
What is the eventual goal? It appears we are moving towards a Global Government. The exit of Britain from the European Union might be a move away from the globalisation. The election of Donald Trump in the USA might be a move away from globalisation. It is also possible that the smaller blocks are breaking down to make way for bigger blocks. World War 3 could be a catalyst for this. Global economic collapse could be a catalyst for this.
Post War
Once war has ended somebody has to rebuild, somebody has to clean up, and somebody has to provide the money for this. Loans are made to war-torn countries to rebuild. This is a big benefit to the large banks. Large construction companies and contractors are often used to rebuild essential infrastructure that has been destroyed by war.
Lots of money can be made from war. Building and selling weapons to other countries has proven to be very profitable. Stockpiling weapons has been argued as a deterrent for future wars. This was the argument for the arms race between the Soviet Union and the USA post World War 2. The development of nuclear weapons was a big part of that. It was claimed that war would be avoided simply because of how devastating the use nuclear weapons would be. The world got a demonstration of the destructive nature of such weapons from the USA with the atomic bombs dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima at the end of War World 2.
Conclusion
I have discussed how war is used to gain power, control, and profit. This is done using the threat of war, actual military conflicts, and post war clean up. It is disturbing that war is being used to benefit particular groups of people. It is even more disturbing that war is being started to gain wealth and power. Many people will find most of this post hard to digest as it reflects very badly on our governments and people in power.
The illusion of democracy is one of the strongest assets to those keeping the illusion that the government is for the people. We need to wake up and realise that governments are not selected by the people or represent the people. The government represent the elite and powerful. They represent those that control wealth and resources. The desire for political and economic power is in many case the key driver of war. Racism, culture, religion and security are just used to fuel war and deceive people to call for war or to participate in war.
Thank you for spending the time to read this post. I still have a few more posts to come in my dark side of economics series.

Very well put across, and not only do:
"The government represent the elite and powerful.:
But they also represent court systems, justice and all authority making change and getting justice hard to do.
People are becoming more aware though so may all our intentions for peace create peace.
Thanks @michellecarter. It is great that this awareness is growing. Platforms like Steemit make it easier to get the message out. I believe times are changing. The next few years are going to be very interesting.
Great post!
Yes, huge money to be made from rebuilding structures after the war. Killing the poor people is part of the profit from war damage.
Thanks @diabolika. The desire for power and wealth and complete lack of empathy for others is so prevalent in those at the tops of chains in both the government and private sector.
