Jonah's Prayer When In The Whale's Belly (Dzun Nuun Prayer)

Long story short, while in Ninawa there are only 2 people who are willing to be his followers, namely Rubil (a wise alim) and Tanuh (a quiet and simple). Because the Prophet Jonah could no longer stand the stubborn Ninawas, he went out in anger and irritation and asked God to punish them (the Ninawas).

The state of Jonah after going from Ninawa was uncertain. He wanders aimlessly in despair and feeling guilty. Finally he arrived at a beach, and saw a ship that will cross the sea. He boarded the ship, and when it sailed suddenly there was a great storm. The ship was shaking, and the passengers agreed to reduce the burden by throwing one of them into the sea.

The first draw falls on Jonah, but the raffle is repeated because passengers feel Jonah is not worth dumping while he is a noble person. But on the second repetition, and third, still the name of Jonah who came out. Jonah realized it was God's will, he then willingly flopped into the sea. Allah then sends the fish of Nun (pope) to swallow Jonah. In the belly of the fish Nun, Jonah repented for forgiveness and God's help, he exalted for 40 days by saying and / or praying as follows:

لا إله إلا أنت سبحانك إنى كنت من الظالمين

LAAAHA ILLAA ANTA SUBHAANAKA INNII KUNTU MINAZH ZHAALIMIIN

There is no god who is entitled to worship except You, Glory to You, I am indeed among those who do wrong.
Allah Almighty hears Jonah's prayer, and orders the fish to strike Yunus on a beach. Allah the Merciful cultivates a pumpkin tree, a thin and weak helpless Jonah can take shelter and eat its fruit. After recovering, he was ordered back to Ninawa, where he was then shocked to see the change of Ninawas who had faith in God. Jonah then taught them monotheism and perfected their faith.

The prayer of Prophet Yunus while in the belly of the whale is mentioned in the Qur'an Surah Al-Anbiyaa 'Ayat 87-88 which reads as follows:

وذا النون إذ ذهب مغاضبا فظن أن لن نقدر عليه فنادى في الظلمات أن لا إله إلا أنت سبحانك إني كنت من الظالمين (87) فاستجبنا له ونجيناه من الغم وكذلك ننجي المؤمنين (88

Meaning:

And (remember) the story of Dzun Nun (Jonah), when he went in a state of anger, then he thought that We would not narrow it (troubles him), So he called in a very dark condition: "That there is no god but You. , Verily I am Including those who do wrong. " So We have permitted his prayer and saved him from grief. and thus We save those who believe. (Surat al-Anbiya ': 87-88)

The story of Jonah is also mentioned by the Prophet SAW:

دعوة ذى النون إذ دعا وهو فى بطن الحوت لا إله إلا أنت سبحانك إنى كنت من الظالمين. فإنه لم يدع بها رجل مسلم فى شىء قط إلا استجاب الله له

Meaning:

The prayer of Dzun Nuun (Prophet Yunus) when he prayed in the belly of a whale is: THE ILLAA ILLAA ANTA SUBHAANAKA INNII KUNTU MINAZH ZHAALIMIIN (There is no god who is entitled to be worshiped except You, Glorious You, I am indeed among the people who do mayhem). Surely not a Muslim prays with him in a matter but Allah grants it for him. "(Tirmidhi 345. Shaykh Al-Albani says that this hadeeth is suhih).
