INDIVIDUALITY: a mix of weakness and strength - MY BUSINESS JOURNEY (Issue #3)

Previously on this series we examined hearsay and its interaction with your business success or failure. Hearsay is an external influence that could doom your venture if not properly appropriated. Today, I charge you to consider playing to your strengths.

Dale Carnegie remarked that people rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing… By personal experience I consider this undoubtedly true.

Life is a mix of weakness and strength. If you know your strength and play to it you will easily succeed and it will help your self-confidence. When you know what to do and you do it well, it will surely boost your self-esteem and that in turn will project a sense of perfection to your onlookers and possible clients. A strong confidence engenders a winning mentality which in line ensures that success becomes a reality every time that mentality is put to use.

In business, playing to your strength involves doing the things that can fetch you income in a manner that brings you fulfillment. Playing to your strength ensures that you do not find things boring and monotonous. But that does not mean that you should remain rigid while things are changing within the market space behind the mask of playing to your strengths. When the market demands change, don’t remain inflexible; seek to move with the change while rechanneling your methods to suit your strengths.

There are some who are trying to do what is regarded as the “prestigious professions” even though they know they are not cut out for it. I have always wanted to be a medical doctor but I learnt early that I would have to deal with the sight of blood almost every day. I was not created to endure such sights so I choose to follow a new path that appealed to strength and tease. I recognized that I have strong affinity for technology and ICT, thus I groomed that passion and channeled my career to sooth. Recently I recognized my proficiency in public speaking; hence I am grooming that art as well. It is always essential you play to your strength and do not allow public opinions to shape where you choose to excel. Seek to excel in what you can do naturally and it would easily become prestigious.

Conclusively I say,

Weakness is one thing the many persons hate to be associated with. Just a few persons are patient enough to wait for you to turn your weakness into strength. Thus, to remain relevant, maximize your strength while privately improving on your weak spots. If the world gets the impression that you are very capable, they are more likely to accommodate your weaknesses while you learn. Therefore give others around you the impression of capability by playing to your strength; this in turn sets your confidence to its top gear.

The book is written to assist anyone who wants to re-invent himself towards business success. It is also for those who hope to start a business sometime in the future as well as for those who are having poor self-confidence that is hampering their success from shining forth. Wonderful
Post

I appreciate.

Great post. Your comment about not being inflexible aligns with my first #introduceyourself post. I share the story about the South Indian Monkey Trap. I might add that we are sometimes (often?) blind to our strengths - it helps to listen carefully to people because they have likely been trying to tell us for years. I read an assessment of people with crazy high IQ's - they often lose people in conversation because they assume everyone thinks like they do... Smart people are blinded by familiarity like everyone else.

I appreciate your input.
