Fishermen need to show up and speak at speckled trout hearings

So to achieve a 20% reduction in the annual harvest, the state staff’s chart shows we’d have to go to a 12-fish daily limit, keeping the 12-inch size limit, to come close to reaching that “target” in three years.

Interesting article about an ongoing debate about what the limit for speckled trout should be. Going from 25 to 12 seems a little drastic to me, how about trying the limit at 20 for a couple years and see how that goes. I know they messed up the snapper limit, any fisherman will tell you the same, 2 snapper is a joke.

If they lowered the daily catch limit, would it increase the size of the remaining fish over time, give more fish the chance to grow bigger?

Good point, I'm not sure....

I know Texas has some big trout, but not many of them
