Introducing the Travel Reimbursement Fund for Attendees of The Second Annual EOSIO Block Producer & Technology Summit
The EOSIO community is a vast network comprised of individuals from around the world and our cultural and geographical diversity ensures a good deal of resiliency for EOSIO blockchains. However, the value in gathering from the furthest reaches of the globe to connect with one another in person is also great and provides us with the personal connections, the real-time conversations, and insights we need to grow and evolve as a truly integrated international community.
Until there is no longer such a huge disparity between a zero fee network with half-second block times, and costly physical air travel which can sometimes take days, we bring you the EOSIO BP & Technology Summit Travel Reimbursement Fund (TRF).
The goal of the TRF is to subsidize travel costs associated with reaching the EOSIO Block Producer & Technology Summit and ensure the widest possible representation from our global community.
How the BP Summit Official Travel Reimbursement Fund will work
Travel reimbursement will only be available to attendees of the EOSIO Block Producer & Technology Summit to be held in San Francisco on Thursday, June 6, at the St. Francis Yacht Club. Between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM you can apply for the 'Travel Reimbursement Fund' by showing proof (a boarding card for example) and your ticket (can be on your phone) and providing us with an EOS account where you would like your reimbursement to be sent.
Reimbursement will be based on miles traveled (as generally the further, the more expensive). The starting point will be the distance from the airport of departure to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) or Oakland International Airport (OAK). The distance is based on line-of-sight straight point distance, not via/ stop-over distance.
The 'EOS per Mile'-rate will be the same for all.
At 9 pm on June 6th, the application entry closes and the EOS per Mile rate will be determined by dividing total miles traveled by all participants by total EOS contributed to the official travel reimbursement fund. Each account will then be sent a portion of the fund relative to the miles traveled.

The EOS account tuliptravels is permissioned as a 3/5 multi-sig between 5 BP’s who will take responsibility for managing the fund. They are eos42freedom, eosiodetroit, eosnationftw, eosriobrazil, & sheos21sheos.
EOS Detroit will be contributing 125 EOS to start the fund. Any BPs that wish to match a day’s worth of block rewards to bootstrap the fund are appreciated!
