Hello, dear Steemians! This is my entry for the 10th Crypto Art and Design Challenge. I had to Pick a famous artist and interpret the eSteem logo into that style. I made an Illustration in photoshop and I added oil paint effects.

I choose René Magritte 1868-1967. He was a Belgian surrealist painter. Known for his ingenious and provocative images, he pretended with his work to change the preconditioned perception of reality and force the observer to become hypersensitive to his environment.

Magritte endowed Surrealism with a conceptual charge based on the play of ambiguous images and their meaning denoted through words, calling into question the relationship between a painted object and a real one.

The Mysteries of the Horizon 1955

The Mysteries of the Horizon is one his famous masterpieces. Created in 1955 in Brussels, Belgium, the surreal painting displays realistic figures in a surreal light. Known as a contemporary art genius, this art piece is still talked about today.

The oil on canvas painting depicts three men all dressed alike. Yet, they seem to be existing in their own reality. There are deep blues, midnight blacks, and specks of light that can be seen in the background. As the men turn in various directions, it is hard for the viewer to determine where one man’s sky begins and the other man’s sky ends. The keen detail to their coke hats and long trench coats draws the eye to the unusual view of many moons. The oil paints are used in a simple stroke and the images are drawn with a clean style.

Magritte’s painting is one of his most recognizable works. It became very popular in the 1960s as it was used on the cover of a few albums along with some of his other pieces. The idea of sharing space and being apart is one that gives this painting its unique modern feel.

The Son of Man 1964

His artwork began to reflect his ideals, rather than following previous movements. Magritte’s pieces are associated with Surrealism, which was a period in art where the paintings tried to confuse people by fusing reality with the imagination, forcing the viewer to contemplate the image.
