the story of a disciple with a teacher
Here's the story I got from a friend, and I edited a bit and then I post back to Brotherhood. Hopefully from this story many benefits we can get. There is a disciple of Master Sayyidil Habib Umar ibn Hafidz - hafidzahullahu ta'ala - who initially had a ta'alluq (close bond) of heart to him. However, when he came home, he felt very far away; already has no more ties to his teacher. He feats, even he seems to forget the teachings of his teacher, like no longer a disciple.
One day, al-Habib Umar preaches to his area and he knows that his teacher will come preaching, he is very happy but on the other side he is afraid and ashamed to meet al-Habib Umar, then he also tries to avoid to meet him . But, it turns out that God predestined a unexpected, he accidentally met al-Habib Umar, then he invited him to shake hands, he was very embarrassed. al-Habib Umar smiled at him and said with a remark he never imagined, "THIR YA THAIR HABLAK MA'ANA (Meaning, Fly ye birds of the rail (will remain) with us)."
As for the meaning, "You are free to do anything you please, even immoral, but know the rope is in my hand, whenever I want to pull you back, I'm easy to do it."
Therefore, we need to know also that the bond that has been established will never be interrupted. This is the form of inayah (attention) of a teacher, from the parents, of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam. Unwittingly when you do bad deeds though, you will be reprimanded. You are like a bird whose legs are bound, will not be released even if you fly anywhere. Masya Allah, may this story be of benefit to us all.
