Believe ETH Will Raise in Future but Got Weak Hands? Here is How to Lock Them!

in #ethereum7 years ago

Main pepole with huge ROI on cryptos are the ones who forgot about them. But this days its not so easy to forget, you may also get cold feet, get drunk and have odd ideas or so.

So few guys came out with a fun contract for ETH which will hold your funds till July 30, 2020

The contract address is 0x1bb28e79f2482df6bf60efc7a33365703bcf1536

and here is full source code of it

pragma solidity ^0.4.11;
contract hodlEthereum {
event Hodl(address indexed hodler, uint indexed amount);
event Party(address indexed hodler, uint indexed amount);
mapping (address => uint) public hodlers;
uint constant partyTime = 1596067200; // 30th July 2020
function() payable {
hodlers[msg.sender] += msg.value;
Hodl(msg.sender, msg.value);
}
function party() {
require (block.timestamp > partyTime && hodlers[msg.sender] > 0);
uint value = hodlers[msg.sender];
hodlers[msg.sender] = 0;
msg.sender.transfer(value);
Party(msg.sender, value);
}
}

Audit of code was made by few known ETH people

Would be an agonising watch sitting there watching Ethereum rapidly getting overtaken by EOS

I doubt it. EOS was too late to the dance. ETH has a better chance of over taking BTC.

In the short term yes but from what I understand EOS is going to be far superior to ETH and and Dan already has a track record of working on projects that have turned out incredibly well

Also Eos much better funded than ETH - it stands to make between $1-2 BN this year from token distribution, read more on my posts.

$1-2 billion and they don't even have a functional product yet! Why does it take $2 billion to code a blockchain project. No thanks, I'll pass.

They will be able to put a lot into apps, and letting people know about the platform - education and marketing - you can have the best technology but if you don't let anyone know about it - it can go nowhere ;-)

I strongly agree with you, this ridiculous amount of money needed make it look like they are in it more for the money than for the actual product.

Also 1-2b for marketing, its just too much.

look's like it already has M8, that article is from over twelve months ago.

Eth will go well yes.. over taking bitcoin in market cap, maybe? in the price doubtfull, see there is a unlimited supply of eth, due to its nature it is needed.. Yet bitcoin as a currency/virtual gold, will win, because there is a limited supply . and is harder to mine as blocks are incresed

It's not really unlimited. ETH gets destroyed as gas and then redistributed to the miners.

dont matter if it gets destroyed.. over all there is a unlim suppy

I think the best way is to maintain one set of balances for trading and one set of balances to forget about and check in 5+ years.

If you don't do that you open yourself up to trading a currency too early and potentially missing a large increase.

Im not so sure turning your eyes away from the market and just letting your investment ride is the smartest decision. Staying ahead of the next dip in price can be a full time job. But you are right, if you trade at the wrong time it can bite you.

Knowledgeable Post.

In the near future ETH might raise again. Maybe not on the long term.

Giving up a lot of passive income opportunities, of there will likely be more in the future

Agreed, this is a nifty tool for conversation, but terribly -EV, in theory, to use. Those who might need to use it would probably be those least likely to do so.

Never a good idea to be locked into anything.

Better to control your own will power and split your currencies intelligently with both short and long term plans.

Not sure I would consider that a better option but nice to know it is possible.

Ether has the potential to give a tough time to bitcoin, but my question is what are the chances that steem will crush all and go to the number one position in a couple of years @kingscrown

#litecoin #$ltc will prevail in the end!

the coin that will rule them all has not come to light yet

Agree it's a good idea to just choose the good ones and hold long-term. I have chosen Bitcoin, Ethereum, EOS and OmiseGo (OMG) with a little bit of Basic Awareness Token (BAT) because I can't resist - and STEEM of course!

hahahaha the idea itself is crazy. Wouldnt it be a great idea for a coin to offer such a service. lets say , you get 30% on top of your eth , but have to lock them for 5years.

Ethereum needs more time for correction after the big run up. I would say there are no new highs till the beginning of next Year and maybe till the switch from POW to POS.

With the crypto market being so fluid and EOS on the horizon, not too sure about this. Graphene may be the future and with block chain tech increasing so rapidly, would hate to have that much liquidity tied up for that long and miss a great opportunity in an emerging currency.

I've got a lot of faith in ethereum I believe in its long term future. Good read mate. Cheers mike

Can you change the date it's released? So you could have multiple contracts releasing ether every month or so for the next 2-3 years. That would be great!!

Kinda gutted I sold my Ether now!

Just realised I kind of have this with bitcoin already. If I sell bitcoin for fiat I need to pay tax on it (capital gains). There is a tax free allowance though, so I have restricted myself to not selling more than that at present (things will change if we go to the moon). That kind of locks my coins up in the same way, although if I wanted to

Interesting idea, however, I'd rather test my self-control instead of leaving it on a smart contract ERC20. I'd like the point of being able to hold those eth through hard time though :D
